How Ronaldo was forced beside Messi even when we know there are many players better than him in football who are not even on Messi’s level.

51m on a defender BlueCo will sell in two years time.... Buying and Selling. How many that started with BlueCo when they took over is still around? How do you even build a league winning team this way? NinjaMetahuman: |

izzou:Do you mean men in their 40s and 50s then or now? Most men in their 40s and 50s then followed football on radios. The ones that had tv and satellites had access to only few occasional live and past recorded games here and there. Majority of what was available then were sport highlights and discussion shows like mastersport, the best of football, Football made in Germany, Gillette world sport etc. No one was watching 90mins of Ronaldo week in and week out. |

izzou:Nah, I have never heard anyone call the recent young kids indomie generation. It was used to refer to kids born around the time it entered and spread in Nigeria. Mostly millenials born in the 90s. |

Illimitable:Thanks for the breakdown. In today’s game, the “data boys” seem to care only about numbers and ignore the eye test. For example, if one player scores 2 tap-ins while another bleeds for a single goal, the stats will say the 2-goal player is better, just because 2 > 1. Foden won 6 Premier League titles in his first 7 years at Man City. That is incredible achievement by any standard Meanwhile, Gerrard played 17 years in the Premier League without ever winning one. Now, Foden is in prime now, he's 25 and he can not make it to 2026 World Cup squad, can you imagine any coach leaving Gerrard out of a World Cup list? So, if we want to judge by epl achievements, Foden is greater, but if by eye test, it will be Gerald, Gerald and Gerald. Stats can be deceptive. The eye test still matters. Nemesis0147:Yes, this is another angle to the discussion. So, in today's game, 3 points can be enough to secure qualification from the group stage, whereas years ago, even 6 points could see you eliminated. So, today game is soft compared to then. Now imagine someone 30 years from now mocking that Argentina team, led by Maradona, for failing to get out of the group stage while praising a team that scraped through with only 3 points now. On paper, the latter "achieved more" because they advanced. But anyone who understands the context should know that football should not be judged by statistics alone. This is exactly why statistics and records should never be viewed in isolation. Numbers tell us what happened, but they do not always tell us how or why it happened. Context matters. Circumstances matter. Statistics matter too, but the eye test remains the ultimate judge of what truly happened on the pitch. |

A40:You are yet to tell me why I should leave the Burndisleaguedown champions with Kane as striker, out of it? Can you see how deluded you are? The current World champion, Argentina, and the current club World Cup champions, used strikers in their setups to get those trophies. A40, when will you stop disgracing yourself? ![]() |

hensben:Thank you. I prefer the ronaldo of man u to the ronaldo of real Madrid. The ronaldo at man u before coming to madrid was a well rounded player, doing remarkable things messi was not doing pre pep era. Take for example his last seasons at man u before he moved to madrid. He was a super fantastic player. Getting to Madrid to devolved his game as he started chasing goals records. I wished he had evolved into a selfless playmaking/team player with the rich talent he had. The one player that should be compare to messi in terms of skillset and style is arjen robben |
