Another good one from the Jagaban. This demonstrates that Tinubu has all the power to transform Nigeria for good, but he is not doing it because of his sectional and parochial tendencies including his avarice and cynicism (He once proclaimed that he does not believe in one Nigeria). Had it being he is truly patriotic and selfless Nigeria would have being on its way to being like Singapore. No president since Nigeria began (not even the colonial governor-generals) has amassed the quantity of Machiavellian power and influence that has been garnered by the Jagaban. For once in Nigeria, a president is in effective control of Parliament, Judiciary and practically all the Governors of the states, including the Armed forces, and INEC. He has the power to win/rig any election, change the Constitution as he deems fit - extend his tenure, partition the country, anything. And this power can be used for great good or great evil. |

frankson1:How do you blame the State when you don't Constitutionally empower them to be in charge of the security paraphernalia of their state? Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces,in control of both the Police,Army and allied Forces and yet it's the state government that's not stepping up? If you want the States held liable then the least you can do is to empower them to do their job. |

Juliette5803:The difference is that the States knows their peculiar situations and local terrain and are more equipped to deal with such challenges. And you don't throw away the baby with the bath water. Yes,State Police will come with it's own challenges but it's left for the Federal Government to anticipate such and put in checks and balances to curtail it. The benefits are enough to outweigh the cons. |

Anyhow country, see how we do things without proper structure. What becomes of the NP? You cannot have two parallel police formations in a country conflicting with each other. Here's my plan, completely desolve the NP; then create an agency akin to the FBI, you can name it the Federal Security Bureau or something similar; absolve 10-15% of the most qualified police offers into this agency. The portfolio of this agency will be a mirror of that of the FBI, invite top FBI and similar international agency officials for intensive training programs for this new agency. This new agency can absolve other agencies like the ICPC, EFCC, NAPTIP among others. The rest of the 85-90% of the police should be released back to their INDIVIDUAL STATES OF ORIGIN to make up what will be the new local police force. Every federal police infrastructure in those states is to be absorbed by the state as voluntarily released by the federal government. The erstwhile police budget and salary allocations should be released back into the state allocations accordingly, to help fund the new local police. Every state should make and domesticate their own police laws and have their own unique salary structure and politice budget. Having done that, it must be stated that no state should pay a police officer below what was statutorily received at the federal level, it can be more but not less since there's a budget to back the local police. |

The next thing the federal government should hands off is the federal road safety commission, they have no business in that field, they should be handed over to the states or made a department under state police By the way, I hope we will start seeing beautiful police uniforms across the various states or are they going to be wearing the same uniforms across board? |

WizardOfNG:Has banditry stopped? Is it by State police? It's just an avenue to loot more money. What the military can't do is what state police will do? delusion. The issue of terrorism is political in this country, until Tinubu goes after the sponsor, any security outfit is just a smokescreen. Where is Amotekun when kids where kidnapped in Oyo for more than one month? Abegiii |
