Yeah that move to Inter came out of nowhere but to be fair he probably wanted to test himself in the best league in the world which was Serie A at the time. Joezinho: |

outside the obvious ones Messi and CR7 I would say Yamal, Vini Jnr (debatable admittedly), Kane, Mbappe, and Haaland. andrewbaba44: |

I can see why you have misgivings about Vini's generational status but then it's hard to ignore what he has achieved with Real Madrid. I would say let this WC be the litmus test. If Brazil wins it with Vini being front and center then your debate ends if not then it continues. andrewbaba44: |

chrisooblog:Kane no enter. A true generational talent will show extreme ability from a very young age. Basically from teenage years we will know that this player is special. Kane is an all time great in terms of his performance and overall ability but he worked and developed it more than being a pure talent. |

France played Giroud and Guivarch at CF their two World Cup wins. They were unimportant Anyway explain to us why the last 3 CL Champions did not need a #9 to achieve success airmark:This L will follow you till the end of time. |

raumdeuter:If it is to embezzle, the money will be available but to do something for the betterment of us,that's when all excuses will suffice. I suggest the government should ensure our safety so that farmers can return to the farms. We should take advantage of our vast arable land to grow what we eat,eat what we grow and export the rest. That would provide more money for the government. Let us crawl before thinking of flying. |

Fair point but Kane was already banging in 30 plus goals per season by age 21-22 so I think he deserves to be in the conversation. I think you can be a slight late boomer and be a generational talent. It's not beans to be England's highest ever goal scorer surpassing greats like Rooney, Bobby Charlton and co. afrodoc: |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by afrodoc(m): 4:41pm On Jun 25 |
chrisooblog:In my opinion, late bloomer already cancels out generational talent. Anybody who is not already showing signs that he will be an all time great as a teenager can’t be a generational talent. Generational talent is not about achievement but what you came into the senior game with. Whether you go on to be a legend of the game is a different story that depends on luck, discipline, hard work, sacrifice, etc. Generational talents do not get loaned from place to place at age 18-20 like Harry Kane was. A generational talent can end up being an underachiever while an average talent can end up being an all time great. Many other factors influence the end result. |

andrewbaba44:Haaland, Mbappe, Yamal are the only undeniable ones. It depends on one’s standards for generational talent. If we use quota system and eye of pity and under duress, Vini, Pedri, and maybe Musiala can enter. |

afrodoc:What do you think of Zidane, Dinho, Xavi, will you say they were generational given your criteria |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by afrodoc(m): 4:58pm On Jun 25 |
raumdeuter:If we are talking about generational TALENT: Xavi definitely not. I watched him fairly well as a youth player. Somewhere down the line his game developed and evolved into the GOAT midfielder that he became. Zidane most likely not but I didn’t see much of him as a youth player but I believe his game evolved too. Dinho is the one that has the best claim to being a generational talent cos everything he became from a technical point of view was already on display from the earliest sighting of him. I am saying this as someone whose favourite 2 midfielders this century are Zidane and Xavi. |

afrodoc:All these players I think bloomed in the mid 20s. So I will say they are generational. Unless you are defining the term TALENT as someone young. I see it as someone with generational abilities regardless of age Don't bring Dictionary for me, I am from Oyo infact same village as freddoooo, we no sabi English |

| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by AirBere: 5:16pm On Jun 25 |
afrodoc:I'm surprised that you consider him generational. If he doesn't score or have good touches against France you'll have people here calling him a division two player. Meanwhile, what do you think of Olise? |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Kimbeast: 5:17pm On Jun 25 |
The reputations of many past players have aged gracefully largely because their flaws were never subjected to todays level of exposure. They didn't play in this era of intense social media scrutiny. Now every single game is analyzed to the bare minimum, every misplaced pass, failed dribble, missed chance, and poor performance is clipped, posted, and debated across social media by even amateur viewers like us. Even Messi and Ronaldo were not spared. With past players, most people remember the highlights, the iconic moments, and the occasional big matches they watched. The countless average performances and bad games are forgotten. Modern players are also expected to do far more than their predecessors. Strikers are no longer judged solely on goals. They are expected to press from the front, drop deep to link play, create chances, and contribute defensively. Mbappe is coming off a 42 goal In 44 game season yet he's still being labelled a problem at Madrid because he doesn't press enough. |

| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by AirBere: 5:30pm On Jun 25 |
Kimbeast:Yeah. If Haaland doesn't score or have touches people here including bbc pundits usually call him a division 2 player. If Mbape drops a stinker, nobody is calling him that. I think the undisputed generational talent right now is Mbape. Yamal is on his way if he fulfils his potential. |
