Sex Organ Cannot Be Stolen Physically Or Spiritually Says Rivers NMA Branch by junioprince(op): 3:59pm On Jun 25
The Rivers State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has dismissed claims that a person's sex organ or any other body organ can be stolen through physical or spiritual means.

The Rivers NMA was reacting to a viral video in which Mr. Daso Ogan was allegedly beaten, physically assaulted, and detained by the police over claims that he had "magically" stolen another man's sex organ in Igwuruta Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Monday, June 22, 2026.

In an interview with our reporter on Thursday, June 25, 2026, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State NMA branch Dr. Siene Orogun, who spoke on behalf of the acting Chairperson of NMA, Dr(Prof) Ureh Oparaodu stated that a handshake or physical touch cannot cause the disappearance, shrinking, or dysfunction of a man's sex organ or any other part of the body.

Dr. Orogun, who is also a Public Health Physician at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), explained that no biological mechanism exists to support such claims.

"However, the experience of it feeling real is a recognized medical condition. It is called Koro Syndrome (Genital Retraction Syndrome), a documented psychiatric disorder in which a person genuinely believes that their Instruments are shrinking or disappearing. Clinical examination always reveals no anatomical change.

"It triggers fear and physical responses in a person who believes his organ has been taken by spiritual means.

"Fear constricts blood vessels and reduces blood flow, causing the organ to appear or feel smaller. Anxiety suppresses erectile function, which may be perceived as a loss of function. There is also the cremasteric muscle reflex, which can cause real scrotal retraction during panic.

"Dissociation under stress can alter body perception in a way that feels completely convincing. The fear itself is doing the biological work. The organ remains intact.

"Koro is a mass psychogenic illness, and fear is socially contagious. Victims need calm clinical reassurance, psychiatric support, and psychoeducation. Communities urgently need public health education," she said.

The public health physician reiterated that no one can spiritually or physically steal an organ through touch.

"What is real is the psychiatric and physiological power of extreme fear, and that is entirely treatable," she added.

Similarly, the Executive Director of Lawyers Watch for Justice International Initiative (LWJII), Mr. Gbenga Oladapo, Esq., told our correspondent that allegations of magical genital theft have no legal basis.

According to him:

"Our legal jurisprudence is evidence-based. Such accusations can only be substantiated through credible medical evidence. In the absence of such evidence, the accusation amounts to a false alarm. The person accused is not the criminal; rather, the person making the false allegation may be the one violating the law.

"Under the Rivers State Criminal Code, there are provisions that criminalize false publications and the dissemination of false information to the public. Section 59 criminalizes false publications, while Sections 1 to 5 address conspiracy and false accusations against individuals.

"Accusing someone of magically stealing or causing a person's manhood to disappear amounts to an allegation of witchcraft. Such accusations are false and are criminalized under the laws of Rivers State. Those making the allegations should be investigated and prosecuted."

Oladapo further condemned the alleged torture of the accused by members of OSPAC, a local vigilante group in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

"It is shameful that an organization established to complement security efforts and fill policing gaps is now physically abusing suspects. This undermines the very essence of justice and signals a serious erosion of due process.

"It appears that OSPAC does not fully understand its role. Such actions deepen the cycle of violence. The same violence they were established to combat is what they are now accused of perpetrating. It also erode public trust.

"They are expected to collaborate with the police, not violate the rights of citizens by assaulting them over baseless accusations.

"There must be a proper balance. Effective community policing requires cooperation, not parallel systems of violence. Vigilante groups are at their best when they act as the eyes and ears of the community, identify threats, safely apprehend suspects when necessary, and promptly hand them over to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and prosecution, rather than taking the law into their own hands," Oladapo said.

The comments by both the medical and legal experts come amid growing public concern over recurring allegations of so-called "genital theft" in some communities, a phenomenon they insist is rooted in fear, misinformation, and misconceptions rather than medical or legal reality.

But they don't beat people up over it. They beat people up for stealing penis.
Lack of mass public education is why this nonsense persists. Watch the video below:
