It’s partly true — but the story splits into two claims that need to be separated:

*1. What soldiers are saying*

Soldiers told SaharaReporters:
- They’re “uncomfortable” because past intel leaks compromised operations
- Some claim recent deadly attacks were due to “repentant” terrorists leaking strategy to Boko Haram

So yes, _some frontline soldiers have voiced rejection/fear_ about working with reintegrated ex-insurgents.

*2. What the military/Defence HQ says officially*
Defence HQ and Operation Safe Corridor have repeatedly denied that ex-insurgents are recruited or deployed:

- *Brig.-Gen. Yusuf Ali*, Coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor: “At no point are participants armed, mobilised, or deployed for combat operations”. The programme is “non-kinetic” — deradicalisation + reintegration only.
- DHQ: “Once you have any criminal record, you cannot join the military or any security agency”.
- They say the viral video of “armed repentant terrorists” was not from their official camp in Mallam Sidi, Gombe, and some state-led DRR initiatives “operate independently”.

*Bottom line*
- *True*: Some soldiers have complained to media about a Borno govt move to attach reintegrated ex-Boko Haram to local security groups supporting operations. They fear sabotage.

Disputed/denied by DHQ*: The military says _Operation Safe Corridor_ does NOT arm or deploy ex-fighters with troops. They call the claims “false, misleading, and entirely unfounded”.

So the “fresh move” soldiers reject appears to be a *state-level* attachment to vigilante/local security outfits, not formal recruitment into the Nigerian Army. DHQ insists no repentant terrorist is in the military or used in combat.

They were no absolved into the military, they were reciuted into borno vigilantes and asked to work along with the nigeria Army, which the Army rejected. I used to think governor zulum had functional brain cells in his skull but alas! He is as empty and idiotic as everyone else in the APC.

In what sane society are proven killers absorbed into the military? To serve alongside men they've been trained to kill? The Nigerian army has laid down and established protocols of recruitment. To force the army to accept previous enemies into their camps is forcing them to mutiny.

The civilian leadership of Nigeria needs to be careful. You cannot force men who have watched colleagues die because of the activities of terrorists, to now serve alongside the same terrorists just because they say they've repented.

Everyone repents when faced with the barrel of a gun. Taking up arms against the Nigerian state is treason and the punishment for treason is death. Rehabilitating and reintegrating killers into the structure of the army makes mockery of the sacrifices in lives and blood the officers and men of the Nigerian army have made.

This has to stop.

I wish the government at the federal level will also consider state military just as they are going about state police. Let the North handle their matter as best as they wished.

Just pray no governor in the South because of politics, will now be recruiting northerners into their state police force. That is were internal sabotage will begin

When has boko haram openly campaigned for secession?? These guys are after radical Islamization of the country, not secession. Mind u if the North were capable of taking care of themselves from the onset without depending on revenue from the South, British wouldn't have merge Southern & Northern protectorate in the first place. It is a fundamental problem, the North has always relied on the South for sustenance.
