HISTORY MADE! Côte d'Ivoire Reach The World Cup Knockout Stage For The First Time Ever The Elephants have done it! Côte d'Ivoire have officially qualified for the FIFA World Cup knockout stage for the first time in their history after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Curaçao. Pepe was the hero of the night, scoring both goals to send the Ivorians into the Round of 32 and write a new chapter in the country's football history. Despite producing legendary players over the years, including Didier Drogba, Yaya Touré, Kolo Touré and Gervinho, Côte d'Ivoire had never progressed beyond the group stage of a FIFA World Cup. That has now changed. Congratulations to the players, coaching crew and millions of Ivorian fans around the world on this historic achievement. African Teams Qualified For The Round Of 32 1. Morocco 2. South Africa 3. Côte d'Ivoire Three African nations are already through, and the continent will be hoping for an even deeper run in this World Cup. Africa is making history. Can any of these teams become the first African nation to reach a World Cup final?

dahmie2013:I have objected to this same thing a couple of times. It seems like Seun and his mods are not perturbed by the disturbing news of South Africans beating, killing, looting, and chasing other black Africans out of SA - including Nigerians. That's why they keep promoting and supporting South Africa here on Nairaland. |

OP, at the end of the first round, kindly give us a list of how the RO32 will look. |

Odewaleadesoye:What are the chances of getting at least 5 African teams in the last 32 so we can be taken more serious?!. The way I see it, we've had at least 5 African teams in the last few world cups at the 32 teams group stage. |

Hemanwel:Don't you know 95% of regular Nairaland are arch-enemy of Nigeria? Take your time to do 3 days follow up on any good news about Nigeria the post and the comment won't pass 1 page but let the bad news comes up the topic will attract 10 to 15 pages to tell you we are dealing with Nigeria enemy [/b]inside Nigeria. So don't be surprise and this is why I alway refers to them as foreigners in Nigeria soul claiming Nigerians. |

African football has improved significantly in recent years. Teams now play with better organization and stronger teamwork, rather than relying only on individual stars playing in Europe. The introduction of VAR has also made the game fairer by reducing officiating errors, creating a more level playing field than in the past. |

Group stage is basically done, so let's talk about what just happened for Africa — because it's historic, not hype. The headline: South Africa have reached the World Cup knockout stage for the FIRST TIME EVER. They lost the opener to Mexico, dug out a 1-1 with Czechia, then beat South Korea 1-0 when it mattered. A nation that had never won a knockout spot is in the last 32. That's a generational moment. And they're not alone: - Morocco topped a group with Brazil in it — 1-1 with the Seleção, 1-0 past Scotland, then 4-2 over Haiti. Same fearless, organised side from 2022. - Egypt look the real deal: 1-1 with Belgium and a 3-1 win over New Zealand. Salah finally has his World Cup moment. - Ghana held England 0-0 and beat Panama. Quietly efficient. - Cape Verde — half a million people — drew with BOTH Spain (0-0) and Uruguay (2-2). Let that sink in. - Ivory Coast got the job done 2-1 against Curaçao. But let's keep it honest, because that's the only way these takes mean anything: - Tunisia were brutal to watch — out with zero points, conceding 12 (1-5 Sweden, 0-4 Japan, 1-3 Netherlands). - Senegal flattered to deceive: beaten by France AND Norway. - Algeria split it — outclassed by Argentina but saw off Jordan. The pattern in the success stories is the same one we saw in 2022: the organised African sides don't try to out-talent anyone. They defend in a block, stay compact, and strike on the transition. In a 48-team format where the margins are thinner, that discipline travels. So the real question for the last 32: which of these African sides is actually built to WIN a knockout tie, not just reach one? Morocco look it. South Africa are playing with house money. Who's your pick to go deepest? |

OP, knock out get levels oh! Round of 32 is different from round of 16. Until South Africa and Ivory Coast qualify for RO16, they still haven't achieved our feat. |
