raumdeuter:Grealish can’t make the England squad Cherki is planted in the multi-talented French squad. Dribbling is not just entertainment. Maradona was dribbler and he won the WC with it. |

Ibime:It seems like you don't know Lacroix. He's one of the fastest defenders in world football. He's faster than Araujo for example and Araujo is very fast. He's in the league of Van der ven in terms of top end speed. But with all that said, I'm not his biggest fan. I prefer intelligent defenders not pace merchants. |

raumdeuter:Okocha made FIFA 100(all time list). He’s the only Nigerian on the list. Like I said, Okocha gets more respect outside the country than Kanu Nwankwo. He’s the better talent. |

Ibime:Bigger, better in the air and also has tidy movement I would take any of the two tbh although I’ve been screaming for van Hecke for a while I’ve been following Lacroix since his Wolfsburg days and Jehovah pikin isn’t better than him currently Oh, and Lacroix is definitely faster than van Hecke |

Ibime:I wanted to add this but it skipped my mind. I knew him for his pace when he was at Wolfsburg. He's so incredibly rapid. |

Illimitable:Maradons dribbling got results, like goals and asissts at key moment. So his talent = results |

Godx:Same with dribbling 6 people, every footballer can dribble 6 people but not all can do it consistently or think its an effective way to play |

Godx:In football, there are different skills, e.g for attacking players: technique, shooting, pace, dribbling, passing, creativity, ball heading, spatial awareness, crossing (for wingers) etc. A player can be insanely good with some of these attributes e.g Kroos was god-tier in Technique and Passing, but an average dribbler yet any good footballing head would see his "natural talent". Same thing for KDB with god-tier creativity and average dribbling. Anyone who watches Mbappe enough since his breakthrough and still doesn't see the god-tier "natural ability" in him obviously leans towards close-control/ball-hugging dribblers, so there isn't much point debating against such a person (football rating is mostly about preference at the end of the day). My main issue is when the same category expects their opinion to hold as facts. As a Madrid fan, I typically use this 2 matchups against PSG to compare Neymar vs Mbappe: 2017/18 UCL RO16, Neymar dribbled our defenders countless times (maybe up to 10 times), yet we won 3-1 that first leg and qualified quite easily. Compared to 2021/22 RO16 vs the same PSG, where Mbappe delivered arguably the best individual performances against Madrid in UCL ever (for me, that remains my number 1). We still qualified, but only by luck IMO. Now ask most casual football fans to rate those two players' performances, and you won't be surprised if Neymar's fancy flicks top. The summary: The majority of football viewers put more emphasis on dribbling than they should when rating football ability. |

raumdeuter:Another wrong analogy and a lie. The point people are making and the one you are arguing is totally different. Feels like you are just arguing for argument sake. Some players can be talented than others and not achieve the same level of success or performance. I don't know why are arguing with that fact. |

I feel we all define a "generational talent" differently, but for me,i'll use the exact same metric for world-class player. You must be extraordinarily skillful, your skills must actually win matches not just Shakushaku ,you must have that fear factor forcing teams to change their tactics to stop you, you must be consistent, and finally, you must become the literal SI unit of comparison for everyone else. |

popizaino:You can make a similar clip for Messi, CR7, R9, Maradona, and any other attacker. Doesn't mean shit, every attacker misses, that's how football works🤧 |

raumdeuter:Not for his football ability. They respect him because he married a Spice Girl. Okocha is respected for what he did on the pitch. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Illimitable: 6:14pm On Jun 26 |
raumdeuter:He didn’t win CL. In 50 years time, People will tell you Kroos or Xavi are better players than Maradona because they won more trophies. Maradona won 11 trophies Kroos won 34 trophies. Is Kroos the better talent because he’s more successful? Your argument is not logical. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by raumdeuter: 6:19pm On Jun 26 |
Illimitable:Maradona and Kroos played in different eras. Kroos played at a time when 4 teams were playing in the CL, In the post Bosman era where you can build super teams Kroos never dominated football and world cup like Maraona did |

raumdeuter:okocha is respected for his talent!! |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Illimitable: 6:31pm On Jun 26 |
raumdeuter:No no no! Maradona played in Europe, he played for Barcelona - and because of poor choices(like Okocha), he went to Napoli instead of choosing a big team to play for. He ended up not winning the big prizes in Europe. Pre-Bosman era didn’t stop Maradona from winning the Champions League. You are just making excuses. Ruud Gullit played in Maradona’s era, he won double the titles Maradona won. Most of Gullit’s success were in Italy, not Eredivisie. Lothar Matthaus also played in Maradona’s era and won more than double the titles Maradona won. This was pre-Bosman era too. If you add the two of them together, they are not as good as 10% of Maradona’s talents and yet they were more successful. Success and talent are two distinctive entities. |

Whether the biggest or fattest it's not a senior men's trophy. Messi is not rated the greatest because he won an underage tournament. Rather he's judged on trophies he won against men in Copa America and World Cups. raumdeuter: |

andrewbaba44: iamoyindamola:Many people have underestimated this Norway team. If anyone has been following their qualify matches, they will know are good they are, Norway won every single game in the qualifiers, finishing with a 100% record. They edged out Italy by beating them both home and away. This is a team that has evolved significantly, so we shouldn't judge them based on previous perceptions of what Norway used to be. They are a much stronger side now, so this Senegal group is my group of DEATH. |
