Ppogbae:It's a practical option. Here's why: - It's a federal government job. - There's less discrimination in hiring and promoting. - It's a more accessible opportunity for the average person. - You get strong job security. - Your retirement benefits are awesome if you clock 20 years. - You get a salary and housing (or allowance), food allowance, and free gear for work. - You get job training and often extensive experience given the nature of the job. - You get a free college education while active, and they'll pay off student loans or you can get the GI Bill. If you don't use the GI Bill, you can transfer it to your child. You also get free access to professional credentials. - Veterans have a number of benefits outside of the service that other people don't. Some people aren't even aware of how many things they have access to, and the list keeps growing over time. - Companies find veterans more attractive employees given the nature of their work experience and the discipline and other things required of them. A foreigner gets all these benefits along with citizenship. Even if they return to their country, they can still collect. |

There is nothing glamorous about being a recruit soldier in the US army, how many times are we going to tell this people coming here to announce like they have gotten a job in Google or Tesla. Being a recruit in Nigeria is actually more glamorous than being a recruit in the US. |
| Re: Nollywood Actor Joseph Momodu Joins US Army (Photos) by planetx: 8:49pm On Jun 26 |
Ppogbae:Because it's a dead end job that even Americans don't want, if you did not attend a US military academy and become an officer, joining as a recruit is a dead end carrer and the only glamour is you think you are peppering Nigerians back home who know no better. Being a soldier in the US offers no special advantage, olopa can handcuff you and lock you up if you misbehave, every Tom , Dick and Harry wears the same camo you are wearing and nobody born you to say a word to them. |

Since they raised the enlistment age to 42, I’m seeing everyone and their father signing up. This one is obviously part of the reserves. There is nothing physical he can contribute to their cause. Na him type dey stand guard or control crowds during protests. |

OriOko88:It's quite unfortunate the likes of you just have access to internet and feel you can just insult people anyhow because of your own believe. See you writing if I have been to the US before, I think because you are not mentally matured enough to know that not everyone here is staying in the Nigeria shithole like you. I have been to 13 countries in all continents of the world and I now built a family in a country outside Nigeria that I feel so sad my 2 kids and wife don't even know what Nigeria looks like but I don't even which them to see it for now. Back to your statement, my dad is a retired military officer and did everything to make me go into the military but I wasn't interested. What I said was based on experience because I applied when I was in the US and I got accepted really fast but I declined later because of how I saw the dark side of what they were doing to Africans that you can never see in the news because US is so secretive. Same thing I tried in the UK just to please my dad but immediately I got accepted within two weeks of the application and that time there was war with Afghanistan, I declined the offer again. My dad was angry but I know the story of other of my guys that accepted and went further. I can only remember them with a rest in peace. I wish you have ever watched real life documentaries of US or UK vectarian military officers to see their stories. Mind you, those that have been blown off in war that have no legs or no hand or some part of their body is not in function anymore are not counted as dead or military loss but rather abandoned with a little compensation that they can never bring them back to normal again. I don't know how to explain to you how evil these countries are but I only wish you can do deep researches yourself. Buy hey you have to stop insulting people you don't know anyhow just because you don't agree with them or you want to prove a point when you know nothing and haven't even crossed a border before. Stay cool bro. |

samoinc10:Hahahaha.....joining the Nigeria army is like signing your death warrant |
| Re: Nollywood Actor Joseph Momodu Joins US Army (Photos) by Ashirioluwa: 9:34pm On Jun 26 |
crusufixo:You got it wrong. You can’t join the US army unless you have papers, that is, you must be either a green cardholder or a US citizen. As per commission officers, only U.S. citizens can serve as commissioned officers (from 2nd Lieutenant upwards) in the armed forces. |

Ashirioluwa:This is not true oga, I know someone on Facebook who traveled, joined the US army and left the army after a year or two. You want to tell me it takes 1-2 years of entering the US to get the green card? ![]() |
| Re: Nollywood Actor Joseph Momodu Joins US Army (Photos) by Cousin9999: 10:05pm On Jun 26 |
meobizy:The majority of military jobs don't require running and gunning. You're more likely to do office or mechanic work as a US soldier than chase down ISIS or whatever they're calling themselves now. |
| Re: Nollywood Actor Joseph Momodu Joins US Army (Photos) by ChrisIntegral(m): 10:10pm On Jun 26 |
samoinc10:Patriot you can go and join the Nigerian military ![]() Recruitment will soon start. |
| Re: Nollywood Actor Joseph Momodu Joins US Army (Photos) by Cousin9999: 10:13pm On Jun 26 |
planetx:Many Americans don't want to do it because of the danger. And anyone with a college degree can become an officer in the US military. I don't know how you define "dead end," but your options in the military and after service are pretty broad, whether you're an officer or not. The only thing limiting you is yourself. |
