yemmit90:My brother you don't know nothing. You are industrially comparing Lagos and warri with a City like oran in Algeria or tunis in tunisia (that mainly consume items made locally)? Mind you , I have been to some of these countries. Your Lagos is a glorified slum. Dem say pikin wey never comot house before go say na him papa farm na big pass. |

emperor4love:recently an Indian man was overwhelmed by his religious belief that he sentenced himself to a life time of standing, as a devotion to his god. Meaning he would never sit,not lie down. He carries out activities of daily living including sleeping, on his feet. Others would leave in a cave for the rest of their lives, some would never bath or cut their hair through out their lifetime, same can be found in other asian countries. Now does that make the society less productive, or are they not developing. .Do your research and find other excuses that could at least, appeal to common sense. |

If you’re chanced, kindly read the comments. This is what I mean when I say Nigeria is a hype nation and the people are largely delusional. This attitude is similar in every single sector. Meanwhile, these people know we innovate and build nothing, all we do is vote in useless politicians and run away from the country. Tell me, what is shocking in this statistic? I’m surprised we even came in 14th and are not in position 30. That’s how they were vexed at the Moniepoint guy. It’s best we learn to face the truth so we can all make decisive effort to move this country forward. Rubbish. |

Fansa25:Do you know that as big as Nigeria is, we produce almost what we used domestically locally too? There are too many small and medium scare enterprises in Nigeria, reason you think we are not productive. Only few Nigerians can afford imported products this period. What is the population of Algeria and Tunisia? If we don't see their industrial products flooding the biggest market in Africa (Nigeria), it means they are not that significant beyond domestic use. Do you know how many industries we have in agricultural sector alone? Nigeria produce 99% of locally used animal feed and chicks despite the fact that will can absorbed 10 Africans countries combined together in terms of population. Nigeria export quite alot of animal products including DOC to west Africa neighbors too. Nearly 90% of Nigerian use shoes, bags and clothes materials produce in Nigeria. Coca-cola and other bottling companies alone can absorbed those of other 10 Africa countries combined. Asides that ,Nigeria host the biggest oil refinery in Africa. Pharmaceutical companies producing medicine for local use are many. Nigeria also has car assemble plant in South east and Lagos. Alot of companies and industries are in Nigeria that these silly statistics usually overlook due to our lack of unity and poor manners of Nigerians in talking down their country on internet. I will ask you guys again, when was the last time you saw made in those countries products in Nigeria. |

yemmit90:You guys are really funny with your analysis. You think it's by population. There is nothing we don't import. Because you don't see made in Egypt or South Africa means that they don't have more industries than us. How many made in Nigeria you will see in Chad, Niger or Ghana? |
| Re: Top 10 Most Industrialised Countries In Africa by yemmit90: 9:18pm On Jun 26 |
ogascomax:I am tired of you guys, you all should please leave fake statistic dropped on Nairaland and get proper education from the right source. Only South Africa and Egypt are more industrialized than Nigeria in entire Africa. The reason they even rated them above Nigeria is because of their exportation upper hands. No countries in Africa can assemble the number of industries and mini companies in Africa than Nigeria. The companies owns by Lebanese and Indians alone in Nigeria is more than some Africa countries. If you cant read extensively, at least you can quickly use Google. Honestly, I am done with you guys. |

Nword22:How many countries have you visited? You think it's by making noise, I've seen how industries are scattered in other countries, large scales I mean, there some industrial estates that you could drive more than 40 minutes along their stretch, it's not a joke. |

Nigeria is absent from the current top 10 list because Côte d’Ivoire overtook it in the latest index standings. While Nigeria used to sit comfortably at the number 8 spot, the African Development Bank's updated tracking shows that Nigeria's industrial score slipped to 14th place. Nigeria has one of the largest economic engines and manufacturing outputs on the continent, but the Index does not just look at size. It grades how well a country sets up its entire system for sustained factory growth. The critical bottlenecks pushing Nigeria out of the top 10 include:⚡ Infrastructure and Power Shortages The Problem: Running major factories requires constant electricity. The Impact: Nigeria struggles with an unstable national grid, forcing companies to spend a fortune running their own private generators. This makes it too expensive to compete with countries like Morocco or Egypt. 🛢️ Over-Reliance on Raw Crude OilThe Problem: Nigeria extracts vast amounts of oil but historically sends it away as a raw resource instead of processing it locally. The Impact: True industrialization requires transforming raw resources into finished consumer goods (like plastics, refined fuel, and chemicals) right at home. Because the economy relies so heavily on selling raw oil, other high-tech manufacturing sectors have been slow to develop. 📉 Weak Structural FoundationsThe Problem: The index penalizes countries with volatile business environments, insufficient private investments, and low export variety. The Impact: Independent economic assessments, like the continental RED Index, label Nigeria's industrial progress as "incomplete" because it lacks the modern supply chains and ease-of-business rules needed for massive factory expansion. 🏗️ Is Change on the Horizon?Nigeria is working on a major comeback. Massive projects—like the sprawling Dangote Refinery and new policies aimed at refining gas and petroleum domestically—are intended to reverse this decline. As these mega-factories hit full capacity, economists expect Nigeria to push its way back toward the top of the leaderboard. Wickedness and witchcraft no good ooo, .. see what it has done to Nigeria |

yemmit90:Bro believe me, I know it's bitter pill to swallow, but the statistics is true and real, and I dare you to do your research however way you choose to do it, it's still going to come out the same no matter the source or the link. Accepting that we have overwhelming deteriorated is the first step to strive for development. |

Without external help or far manpower they never won against anyone , even lost uncountable war against tiny groups including the most Embracing one against women with 10x + lower by manpower. yemmit90:You are the ignorant one here and you are also the enemy of the country for defending its failure. Send me the link to that research you did just so I can learn. You want me to believe your sentimental feelings about how Nigeria is more industrialized without proof. You people are so ignorant that y'all don't know how these rankings work. No matter how industrialized you think Nigeria is, if the total final production output is disproportionate to its population, then Senegal with a relatively lower industrial and production output, though proportional to it's population wants and needs, is more industrialized than Nigeria.. Same reason why Nigeria is home of some of the richest black men in the world and yet the poverty capital of the world. Everything about Nigeria is disproportionate. |

Kelvin3476:You watched Woman King, a film that was made by oyinbo. The true story was that Egbas defeated the Agojie of Dahomey. Why is it that we have yoruba in West African coasts? Biafra submitted to Obasanjo when te led the war against biafra. People like Benjamin Adekunle (black scorpion) will never be forgotten. Our forebears had lots of wars, now we are choosing the path of peace not because of cowardice but choice. If or when it is inevitable, it is in the blood. Only we don't fight senseless wars. |

MightySparrow:Biafra is the only living country WEY fight against all world powers + more than 200 other tribes for 3 years without defeat until the world use war crime starvation . Get this inside ur skull. They Yorubas never tell a truthful story , about anything. Checks and balance the story remains Dahomey female warriors defeated Yoruba tribe in a war . |

Kelvin3476:We are not fighting anymore. We have done that too much. If you didn't know the sixteen years old war called kiriji you should know the ife - Modakeke war. You should know that Aare Onakakanfo is the generalissimo of the Yorubas. There is no known any historical warriors from biafra. Ojukwu ran away in the heat of civil war. Biko leave this matter. We Yorubas are shooting for Oòduà nation. This we will get before biafra ![]() |
