Senegal has qualified. Nicely done. Belt to ass on Iraq saved them.
God save them

Hope the coach uses his head and drop 1/2 players

Koulibally should be number 1
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by izzou(m): 9:05am On Jun 27
Senegal are pretty decent.

They just had their first two matches with the toughest, and there was no room for messing up.

If Ghana had played England first, or CIV played Germany first, I doubt if they would have the hope to qualify

I'm so glad they made it.

Let the battle begin.

Once more, Tunisia, thou art a castaway from thy Brethren

See Nigeria life

South Africa
Ghana
Egypt
Senegal
Cape Verde

And possibly Algeria if they get one more point.

Only Tunisia remain useless

Will all qualify

This is why he is relaxed at Chelsea.

At Chelsea he is a King with good salary. He can retire at Chelsea while forming proper Chels and keeping the fans always believing..

Fans will be like, when James is fit, I wish James was fit, when James comes back he will fix the defense.
No, he's not relaxed at Chelsea. This is exact reason why we've been saying he no longer has the body for the WB role. His hammies will not allow. Neither can he play as an advancing/overlapping RB. He will be on the doctor's bench more times.

Before March '26 when he had a recurring hamstring injury when School Teacher came and played him at RB, he last had a hamstring injury in Dec 2023.

Problem now be say he doesn't heal quickly and without surgery, he has acute relapsing tendencies. So he might be on and off for a while.

I guess they were more interested in having him set a record for Uruguay rather than think of the impact on the team.

Africa/CAF can easily do 80% (8/10) qualification at this point, or even 9/10. Early days, but this is looking like the Best African WC performance so far.
Yes, Africa has been impressive so far at this World Cup, but we should also be honest, FIFA has made qualification easier with the expanded format. Before, only 2 teams qualified from a group of 4 teams. Now, as many as 3 out of 4 can go through. If you still fail to qualify under this system, then you probably didn't do enough to deserve it. That's why I was so disappointed that the Super Eagles failed to qualify for this World Cup.
Back then, if you lost your first two games, like Senegal did, you were almost always heading home. But today, a team can still qualify with just 3 points as one of the best 3rd placed teams.
Personally, I still see the Round of 32 as an extension of the old group stage. For me, the real knockout stage begins at the Round of 16.
So while Africa deserves credit for their performances, but we should also admit that the new format has made qualification much easier for every team, ( not Africa alone) than it used to be.

I get your point, the pass mark for group stage (in this current format) is 32/48 (66.7%). So if CAF does 80% (could even be 90%), they have done well so far. In the previous WC format of 32 teams, 16/32 go through = 50%. Yet we hardly get 2/5 (40%) qualification rate, which happened only in 2014 and 2022. This is why I said, based on the current situation, CAF is easily outperforming everyone's expectations.

From RO32, we will continue analyzing CAF qualification performance. If 3/8 or even 2/8 makes it through to RO16 then CAF is still on course to beat previous WC performances.

3rd place teams qualifying at the world cup is not a new thing. They have been using it before the 2002 world cup when it shifted to 36teams.

From 1998 to 2022, the World Cup featured 32 teams. Under that format, only the top two teams from each group advanced to the R16. There was no provision for the best 3rd placed team to qualify for the knockout stage.

The best 3rd placed teams qualified only at the 1986, 1990, and 1994 World Cups. From 1998 onward, the tournament was expanded to 32 teams, meaning only the top two teams from each group advanced to the R16

What are you saying?

If we win Colombia today we go to Argentina side of the draw so they will meet at the Quarter final stage and Beelzebub will be sent home.

Portugal can't beat Colombia..I saw many flaws in their game even as they pump Uzebiktan 5-0.
