They discovered the talent, they polished the talent and Ronaldo started winning(excellent choices + required talent + work ethic).

Messi was only 13 when Barcelona scouts asked for his signature. He had won nothing professionally but they saw the talent. They groomed the talent and he won a billion trophies for them.

The talent & the success are two different entities.

Okocha was just an entertainer. He was never a serious footballer. Dribbling that leads to nothing. I was watxhing the 1996 highlights vs brazil this evening and I just dey vex at the way he was only dribbling and shooting wide. He also missed a penalty nonchalantly.

Okocha can never be rated anywhere near great footballers. Naija people can support him as their own...and for his dribbling skills. Nothing else dey his game.

Posting screenshot of Okocha being named BBC African footballer of the year definitely doesn't make him Africa's best talent considering several others have won it before and after he did.

There are several other players who can lay claim to being better talent out of Africa when compared to Okocha and his footballing career.

That's because he didn't achieve enough. When it comes to talent there's nothing Ronaldinho could do with the ball that Okocha couldn't. Talent wise he's on the same level as the great Dinho but different factors contributed in not reaching the same status.

There was a video where they were asking ex players like Keane, Wright, Neville on the overlap to name great players to have never won the balon dor as expected Henry was named, Beckham, Kdb and then Okocha was named twice.
