Why A Relationship With Jesus Alone May Not Be Enough To Save You

Having a relationship with Jesus is good, however the hard but Gospel truth is, that alone may not be enough to save a soul from hell as many claim.

That's if we choose to go by the teachings of Jesus.

Luke 13:25-27 (KJV)

When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

Now the people Jesus spake about on this occasion, weren't strangers but people who had a relationship with Jesus, but thought that alone was enough to be acknowledged and saved by Him.

However Jesus said He would not acknowledge them but tell them, "depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity".

Therefore having a relationship with Jesus, eating and drinking with Him, calling Him 'Lord", praying to Him and speaking in tongues etc., wouldn't be enough to save anyone from hell, if the person continues to work iniquity or live a sinful life.

One particular person who had a close relationship while He was here on earth to the point Jesus called him brother, was Judas Iscariot.

He was among the 12 Jesus appointed as His apostles, and sent to preach the Gospel, empowered to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demon and cure the lepers etc.

He was even the bag bearer and was also there in the last supper.

So he also ate and drank in Jesus presence, and knew the secret places Jesus resorted to when He wanted to retreat from the crowd.

But despite the close relationship he had with Jesus, he refused to repent of his sinful ways and works of iniquity.

That's why Jesus yet called him a devil and said "woe to that man" while He was yet eating the last supper with the same man regardless. Mark 14:21

Therefore salvation isn't just about having a relationship with Jesus, but having the right kind of relationship with Jesus, where we don't only call Him "Lord", but also keep His Word, which instructs us to repent and sin no more so we do not perish.

Jesus will not lock out a friend and a friend will not be locked out, so therefore, it means that those locked out, wrongly thought that by their being in His presence was a relationship. They need to go and study what a relationship means

God has shown overtime that He can even relate with unrepentant sinners even prior to the coming of Jesus.

That's how God related with Cain despite knowing fully well of the evil in his heart that made Him reject Cain's offering, and warned him about before even the evil thoughts of Cain's heart manifested itself in the killing of Abel, who was righteous in God's sight hence whose offering God accepted.

God still related with Cain and listened to him even after he had murdered righteous Abel, to show that having a relationship with God, even to the point of God hearing and audibly speaking to the person, isn't enough for one to be acknowledged of God and partake of His Saving Grace, if one refuses to repent but continues to work iniquity.

It's only those who walk righteously before Him and are obedient to His Word that God that God truly knows as His own and would save from the wrath to come.

Jesus is obviously talking about false prophets, teachers and pastors who neither practice what they preach or were using demonic means to perform miracles in their churches.

This una one sided relationship, you talk to yourselves and think that a dead jew is answering.

You don't know what he looks like, he has never said hello to you, and you only got to know about him from a book with no updates, written by people who never met him like you.

Judas betrayal of Jesus was already prophesied in the book of Isaiah.
Judas was only chosen by the universe to fulfill the prophecy.
Judas was innocent,untill he was used to fulfill the prophecy.
He later hung himsef when he realized the gravity of what he has done and was also depressed for being the one chosen to fulfill a prophecy that was older than him.

Those that call on the name of the lord should stay away from iniquities. What Jesus Christ will not do don’t do

The first message of Jesus was emphasized on repentance of the man away from sin.

Therefore, any man that truly walks with Jesus does not walk in sin.

If you truly walk with Jesus, you will walk in righteousness of him.

Hence, Jesus is the only way. A true relationship with him is sufficient pathway to eternal salvation.

If anyone believes in Jesus and acknowledges Him as Lord and Saviour, it is enough to save him. For everyone who calls upon the name of Jesus shall be saved

I believe a true relationship with Jesus naturally leads to obedience, repentance and moral transformation.

Jesus did not say, "I knew you but your works were insufficient". He said, "I never knew you" (Matt. 7:23).

That suggests their relationship with Him was never genuine despite their religious activities.

At the same time, we cannot claim to know Christ while deliberately persisting in grave (mortal) sin without repentance.

So, a mere claim of having a relationship with Jesus will not save anyone. A genuine relationship with Him should transform how one lives.

After ya'll preached the antichrist grace which encourages and makes sin to abound, ya'll will start saying things like, "shall we continue in sin that grace may abound", or "it doesn't mean a Christian is is expected to be living anyhow", when that's exactly the inevitable result of that gospel that has nothing to do with Jesus.

Why preach the gospel at all if that's not the result you seek, because after doing so, you will have to say that at some point, as it will lead to a church where sin abounds as it is today.

You should've already seen that my final authority isn't the Bible but the teachings of Jesus, which you quoted but misinterpreted, because Jesus was actually speaking of His chosen disciples, and He said it was God that gave them to Him. But for God to do so, God must have seen the content of their hearts to do so, because He doesn't chose anyone as His servant before doing that. That's how He chose David after rejecting Saul, who is a proof that the saying about the gift and calling of God being without repentance did not come from God, as it doesn't align with His biblical character.

I agree with you on the bolded, however the only reason is because he genuinely repented of his sin, and that's the entire point here.

Judas that used to love money so much to the point of doing anything for money to the point of betraying Jesus, now taking the money back was a clear evidence of that.

However prior to that, he was a devil according to Jesus, and also called a thief, and it seemed that he was doomed for hell, but for his genuine repentance, because God is not willing that anyone perished but that they all come to repentance.

That's why I believe God would forgive accept him, because I have ibserve how far God can go when a soul truly repents as shown severally in the Bible.

misleading title , poor delivery, how can someone with sincere relationship with Christ not make heaven when he already said no goes to the father except through me. This is a lazy sermon put together for a quick post. The chapter you have quoted refers to people who say they're with Christ but do otherwise in action. When Christ gave the power to evangelise and heal and banish unclean spirits, Judas Iscariot, who later betrayed Jesus was there. But look at his actions afterwards?

He didn’t only die for prophets and teachers and it’s not only prophets and teachers that can cast out demons. The Bible says these signs shall follow ALL who believe that is Christian’s whether you have a title or not. Get your theology right before trying to argue.
