Lagos, Ogun Police Commands Rescue Five, Arrest 88 In Forests Raid by naptu2(op): 8:28am On Jun 28
The Ogun State police commissioner, Bode Ojajuni, was the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command in the 2000s.

Lagos, Ogun police commands rescue five, arrest 88 suspects in forests raid

June 27, 2026

The Nigeria Police Force in Ogun and Lagos states on Friday launched Operation Kosaye a joint security initiative targeted at addressing insecurity challenges across the two states.

Speaking during the launch on Saturday at the Police Training School, Iperu-Remo, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, alongside his Lagos State counterpart, Fatai Tijani, said the operation had led to the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the killing of four suspected kidnappers, and the arrest of 88 criminal suspects across both states.

Ojajuni said the operation was initiated by the Inspector-General of Police, with the support of the Lagos and Ogun State governments, to rid the two states of kidnappers and other violent criminals.

He explained that “Kosaye,” a Yoruba expression, means “there is no hiding place for criminals,” adding that the operation was designed to clear forests, criminal hideouts, and border communities used as safe havens by kidnappers.

Ojajuni said that, “Today, we are formally launching Operation Kosaye, a joint security initiative between the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands. The name Kosaye means ‘there is no hiding place for criminals.’

“This operation is an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police and enjoys the full support of the governments of Lagos and Ogun states, which have provided the necessary logistics to ensure its success.”

The police commissioner said the operation was aimed at eliminating kidnapping and other violent crimes within the two states while restoring public confidence in security.

According to him, security operatives have already dismantled several criminal camps and cleared forest corridors and border communities stretching across Lagos and Ogun.

“Our operatives have combed and cleared several forest corridors and border communities stretching across both states. We have also dismantled criminal camps, cleared illegal shanties used as hideouts and arrested several suspects,” Ojajuni said.

Highlighting the achievements recorded so far, the commissioner disclosed that the police rescued five kidnapped victims during an operation along the Ijebu-Ode corridor.

“One of the major breakthroughs recorded during the operation was the rescue of five kidnapped victims along the Ijebu-Ode corridor following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police.

“During the rescue operation, four suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while four others were arrested. In addition, no fewer than 84 other criminal suspects have been apprehended across Lagos and Ogun states during the ongoing operation,” he added.

Ojajuni also displayed exhibits recovered from the suspects, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, locally made pistols, ammunition, mobile phones, and communication equipment.

He urged residents not to panic over the increased deployment of security personnel, stressing that the offensive against criminal elements would continue.

“We therefore urge members of the public not to panic whenever they notice heavy deployment or movement of police personnel. The operation is still ongoing, and our officers will continue to sustain the offensive against criminal elements,” he said.

He also appealed to residents to report anyone with suspicious gunshot wounds or any useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, said the operation had already begun producing tangible results, noting that several forests previously occupied by kidnappers and other criminals had been reclaimed.

“As you can see from the results displayed here today, Operation Kosaye, initiated by the Inspector-General of Police and strongly supported by the governments of Lagos and Ogun states, has already begun yielding significant results,” Tijani said.

He explained that before the operation, criminal gangs had established camps in thick forests and border communities linking both states.

“This joint operation was designed to deny criminals the opportunity to use these forests as safe havens. Our personnel have systematically combed these areas, dismantled criminal camps and restored security to the affected corridors,” he stated.

Tijani said the operation was not a one-off exercise but would be sustained to ensure lasting security across the Lagos-Ogun corridor.

“This exercise is not a one-off operation. It is continuous and will be sustained for as long as necessary to ensure that residents of both states can go about their lawful activities without fear,” he said.

The Lagos police commissioner commended the Inspector-General of Police for initiating the operation and appreciated the Lagos and Ogun State governments for providing the logistics that made the exercise possible.

“The results speak for themselves. You have seen the rescued victims, the suspects arrested, the firearms recovered and other exhibits displayed here today. These achievements demonstrate that this is a serious and coordinated effort to tackle insecurity,” Tijani added.

He expressed confidence that the collaborative security model would be replicated in other parts of the country, saying joint operations among neighbouring state police commands remained critical to tackling cross-border crimes.

The two commissioners of police also praised Governor Dapo Abiodun and his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for their support and cooperation, assuring that the joint operation would leave no stone unturned in dealing decisively with all criminal activities across both states.

Police can do the work. They just need funding in terms of weapons and incentives. That is too hard for our politicians to provide.

Why, because people are saved from terrorists? See why i say that your people are extremely petty.

When the SE was having this issue like an epidemic, your region stood behind Buhari when he unleashed python Dance. You called Nnamdi kanu names for calling out the Fulani militia and terrorists and castigated Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB that wanted a united front from the South to counter these savages.

Sunday igboho, proved us right as a fake freedom fighter and was exposed as a TINUBU plant , masquerading as the Nnamdi kanu version of the SW.

Now in OYO State...his own domain the Fulani called him out and even ambushed his security team "iru Ekun " , this is after he wore APC cap.

Have those in OYO been rescued??...NO
Instead he is acting FILMs everywhere. grin

In summary....Nnamdi kanu formed ESN and faced the Fulani terrorists head on. You guys mocked him and IGBOs because of that. Now, you are bleeding in your region and you want compassion from the people you pushed hatred towards?

You hailed TINUBU for jailing Nnamdi kanu and sending him to Sokoto, to show alliance with the North. Now, does the North LOVE TINUBU or hate him the more? What has changed in your favour, with the North?..Absolutely NOTHING. Instead they hate you guys more sef.

I am trying to wrap mu head around how you people from SW reason. You want PITY but you insult and castigate other regions. Have you ever talked about killings in Benue, Plateau and other parts of NIGERIA? You dont care at all...

Make it make sense na!!!

All i know going forward is that the SE will protect itself gallantly. Your betrayals are just too pathetic. Sort yourself out. cool

Re: Lagos, Ogun Police Commands Rescue Five, Arrest 88 In Forests Raid by Jakumo(m): 9:08am On Jun 28
The joint operation between the police commands of Lagos State and Ogun State, launched under the code name "Operation Kos'Aiye" , which translates to mean "No Room" for criminals, is an encouraging glimpse into the immediate future of police work that must become an inspirational template for the entire nation's security network.

This particular kidnap attempt began when 3 public transport buses heading to Lagos were waylaid on the westbound expressway between Ore and Ijebu Ode, a few miles outside the Ijebu Ode city limits, where both sides of the road are lined with the imposing and forbidding trackless forest reserve known as J4, long regarded as home sweet home by bloodthirsty kidnap gangs who target vehicles along that key transportation artery linking Nigeria's east to the west .

The kidnap gang of five Fulani terrorists expected their deadly operation to proceed smoothly as had been routine in the past, but this time the unblinking police eye in the sky was deployed with alacrity, allowing a massive force of combined police and military operatives to rapidly surround and subdue the Fulani terrorists who were given no time to hurt their hostages before being sent by superior firepower to join their ancestors in the depths of Hades.

Hearty congratulations and gratitude are due to the fearless warriors of Nigeria's Ogun and Lagos State police commands, who cooperatively saved these five hostages in RECORD time, without losing a single man or hostage in the process. At a time when bad news from Nigeria is the depressing norm, those rare occasion when good news does emerge MUST be celebrated in order that those men and women of law enforcement can KNOW the nation is behind them as they lock horns with the rampaging beast of Islamist terror that threatens all who ply Nigeria's highways.
