I have observed that my data cost is increasing every month.
Before now I used 4k worth of data for one month but after the rate increase by the telcos even ten thousand Naira worth will finish before the end of the month.
Any suggestion for where I can get cheap data will be welcome.

if u live in lagos, might consider getting Spectranet.

For mtn, subscribe to mtn smart data, i get 2500 for 10gig for 14 days/

During Jonathan time.with just 3gig me wey dey open almost 50 pages a day. 3 gig dey last me 3 weeks.
When bubu came to power.
3 gig lasts me 2 weeks.

Then Tinubu came.
3 gig highest 3 days.its finished
I did weekly.within 2 days it finished
I now do 600 every day and half.
If u do sub of 10gig
Just know it's 3 or 4gig in reality

you can't lower it o. These guys have secretly increased the charges without informing the masses so that people won't bash on the government. Before Tinubu, 3,500 was my monthly subscription but now I spend about 15k monthly for data and like 10k for calls 📞 yet Tinubu people are telling us that we should relax Tinubu is fixing Nigeria 🇳🇬.

It's simple if glo network dry u area... subscribe to glo ALWAYS ON package for 7k an get 1.5G daily for a complete one month..making it 45G per month.


That I am what I do and I DNT have issues with data anymore

it's not for everyone. Maybe you are a low subscriber. My own is 7k for two weeks while some are way over than that.

I don't know as well I switch to Airtel because it gives free browsing and use night data most times because it's cheaper and I will just do some of my content down and edit next day. It's not funny but what will someone do.

Someone mentioned spectranet I think you can give them a try if you can get their medium size Wifi.

I use Glo always on.
5000 for 30gb
But they release 1gb per day.

I use mtn always on. If data allocated for that day finishes, I just subscribe mini packages for one or two days to supplement the main package. Even if you subscribe 1TB that is supposed to last you for a long time,these people will make sure it finishes under a short time. But with these always on packages, they have no choice than to allocate daily data to you for 30 days.

The phones during Jonathan's time were Symbian and Android 2
Those barely used data. 3gb would be enough for 1 month.
Phones today, Android 17, iOS 26, with 4k screen, 4k video upload to YouTube/tiktok and all manner of background data consumption going on 24/7...

that is what I am saying. Ever since Tinubu took charge, everything scattered.

I'm using either Mtn 120gb for 13k OR Airtel 100gb for 13k as well, validity is one month.

Requires a new SIM every month.

I think these ISPs have a way of wiping off your data

Watch less videos. That's what I do.

Delete social media that's twitter, instagram, whatsapp and faveboook. You're not missing out by quitting them.

You cannot lower it. MTN, glo and Airtel has programmed their system in a way that the more you spend money on data then more money you'll keep spending.

The Data plans will automatically change to higher amount.

Blame the government for this

Reduce watching nonsense online, but first, you have to build yourself to easily discern what's nonsense and what isn't. That's your personal battle.
If nairaland has 15 content post on front page, I end up clicking on 2-3 posts.

Also, watch the kind of people you follow online. Some things should not be content. If you follow nonsense, you'll have to keep seeing nonsense contents. And pray your social media setting isn't on "automatic play"

Secondly, most installed app automatically switch on the "use data in background" settings. You'll have to manually change these

I want to believes those spending so much on data are people using it for business, otherwise, I don't see why we need to spend beyond our capacity on data subscriptions.
