If government can channel the NYSC scheme in this direction I believe that Nigeria will be free from unemployment for good.
According to Google, the average of graduates that go for NYSC program in a year is between 350
to 450 thousands. And each corp member receives the sum of 77000naira a month, which sums up to almost #400billion for the whole year.
If government decides to take this fund and use it to be building industries every year, in different fields like productions, agricultural and other companies and then instead of sending the corps members to different organisations and government paying them they will be recruited into the company permanently and start receiving salaries from the companies income. And before another set of graduates will emerge another industry would've being created(from the 400billions which would be used as allowees for the next set) and then the next sets of the corps members will be recruited into the industry permanently.
Atleast #400m projects should be able to recruit nothing less than 300 thousands Corp members.
I believe it'll solve more unemployment rate than this temporary NYSC services which is creating more jobless graduates yearly.

Makes sense but management is the real issue.

Oil dey your head.The problem is that our leaders would also hijack the initiative to loot and recruit their friends and associates. But if it is done properly it'll go a long way.This is a front page post admin do the needful.

Government has no business building industries. The ones they built in the 70s-90s have been sold or are in coma because of mismanagement.

Instead government should give substantial sum to fresh graduates with startups plans. Those startups can employ other fresh graduates

Very funny guy …So u think any Nigerian govt has the intention of solving real problems of Nigerians ??

NYSC was originally designed to foster unity among Nigerians post civil war ….it should have been scrapped but its a yearly embezzlement scheme and one of the politics-playing ground …. Make no mistake …..The govt doesnt do anything for the masses….

What kinds of industries? To be managed by who? And to be continuously funded by who? Government? Have you seen any government industry that is working? NEPA? NNPC? Be critically realistic when reasoning bro. Government wants to keep the masses poor so we keep looking up to them.

Baba it can't happen. One person or a group of persons at the top will loot the income. Or the employees will try to steal and pilfer till they bring down the company. Or one aggrieved opposition may even commit arson just to crumble the effort. Nigeria is way too complicated bro. Find out about what happened to big big companies like ASCON (Ikot Abasi), Palm Mill (Abak), Oku Iboku Paper Mill (Itu) all in Akwa Ibom State. These are the ones I've witnessed first hand. Just leave it. Nigeria will only get worse. My only concern now is that they are now sending terrorists to be killing everybody.
