Trump, who isn’t even contesting for re-election, personally came out on Truth Social to direct fuel retailers to slash pump prices immediately, warning them against gouging. He didn’t hide behind his Energy Secretary. Yet here in Nigeria, the same man who doubles as Minister of Petroleum, and is busy eyeing re-election, has not uttered a single word as marketers exploit Nigerians despite crashing crude prices. This is the same president whose only real energy is reserved for collecting foreign loans and spending them. Insecurity killing people daily? Silence. Inflation choking families? Silence. No power, no jobs? Silence. Mass kidnapping of school children. Silence. But petrol prices? Not a single official statement from his office. This lackadaisical, tone-deaf leadership is unacceptable. Tinubu should address Nigerians directly on this matter, not through proxies. Tinubu can ease price pressure by opening temporary free-market import licenses for fuel marketers to import at competitive landed costs. Once new entrants flood supply, monopoly pricing breaks, competition forces margin compression, and prices naturally reset lower before incumbents lose market share. |

malali:This has been the main reason why Trump has been soft on Iran, avoiding a full escalation of the war because of possible effect on oil pricce. Otherwise, Iran would not last one month under USA full military fire! |

Trump knows that high gasoline prices would damage the Republican party's during the upcoming midterm election. They are already sure of a poor outing due to Trumps tyrannical behavior and lots of bad policies. High fuel prices would only make things worse for them. Majority of Americans already blame it on him. |

Goo0dHardDick:Read and understand. No digrace (disgrace) yasef, as una people dey write am. Trump was speaking to retailers in the USA. Where did you get your “world petroleum body from”? He was not talking of crude prices, but petrol prices. Petrol is that liquid that runs people’s vehicles. |

| Re: Cut Petrol Prices Now, Trump Orders Retailers by goslowgoslow(m): 4:24pm On Jun 30 |
malali:People will just pick up phone to type rubbish! Trump is not contesting but the mid term elections is coming in November, if his party loses the house to Democrats all his plans for the remainder of his term will come to an end hence the reason for this type of aggressive directives that is going nowhere because market forces determines the price of petrol in the US Meanwhile keep comparing Nigeria to the US as if they don't have their own serious problems. In my area this morning 3 dead from gunshots, gun running everywhere una go dey Nigeria dey the rubbish. |

| Re: Cut Petrol Prices Now, Trump Orders Retailers by nairalanda1(m): 4:30pm On Jun 30 |
Trump can't cut fuel prices or order retailers to cut fuel prices in the USA. Let me even add one issue for many retailers in the USA...most of their profits are made from the shops that are attached to the fuel stations, not from selling fuel, and indeed many fuel stations in the US have had to shut down over the years because profits. What trump is doing is going to affect a lot of buisnesses adversely...if he had the power, that is At any rate, no US leader can implement price controls unilatterally |

malali:Tinubu and Buhari were two people who had no business leading a complex, populated country like Nigeria. They're tribal chauvinistas interested only in their personal riches, power, and their tribe. Tinubu is even worse, placing his tribal folks every single place. The moment TNB said "eki lo kan" should have been the end of his career |
| Re: Cut Petrol Prices Now, Trump Orders Retailers by favour32(m): 4:31pm On Jun 30 |
That is a "commendable" example of a president that is alive. Not a country that is ruled by a deaf mute. Proxies are advanced in age touts. See ya mate! He talks only when he wants to obtain a loan and spending. |

| Re: Cut Petrol Prices Now, Trump Orders Retailers by Vision101(m): 4:31pm On Jun 30 |
malali:So the minister of state oil's statement is not from the government. USA doesn't regulate prices and Nigeria doesn't either. Is their any difference between an official of government making announcement after FEC meeting and the president making the same announcement. Fortunately hatred kills the hater and doesn't kill the hated. |
| Re: Cut Petrol Prices Now, Trump Orders Retailers by goslowgoslow(m): 4:33pm On Jun 30 |
favour32:Oya make we see if the price will come down now. People wey nor sabi anything. |
| Re: Cut Petrol Prices Now, Trump Orders Retailers by nairalanda1(m): 4:34pm On Jun 30 |
favour32:Trump can't lower fuel prices, unless he orders a release of crude oil stored in the strateigic oil reserve, which would bring down prices due to the surplus effect. As for Nigeria, forget about it. APC has made the country too poor, and also past mistakes over the decade means that we are too broke to even force a price reduction without it adversely affecting the petroleum sector, leading to job losses....and more debt indirectly |
