Replies critics of akara sellers: "I heard people talking about akara sellers. It is not only akara sellers. We are also supporting tomato sellers, maize sellers, vegetable sellers, and many other petty traders. I know the beneficiaries appreciate it, and we're not intimidated by the wrong reports".

PRESS RELEASE

FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU LAUNCH NORTH WEST ZONE OF NATIONAL COMMUNITY FOOD BANK PROGRAMME

Assures she will continue to boost small scale businesses

First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has disclosed that since the flag off of the National Community Food Bank Programme in Borno State in April, 560 beneficiaries have enrolled while 468 vulnerable children have been reached.

Describing this as an impressive start, Senator Oluremi Tinubu says the success of the programme depends on sustained collaboration.

“We must work together to build a transparent, accountable, and efficient food bank system that reaches vulnerable households across Nigeria”.

“I therefore call on individuals, organisations, institutions, and development partners across the North-West Zone to support and actively participate in this initiative as we continue its nationwide rollout”.

“The choice of Jigawa State for the North-West launch is strategic. Jigawa is an agrarian state with immense agricultural potential and a strong commitment to improving the well-being of its people”.

Before the formal launch, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu had commissioned the new palace hall of the Emir of Hadejia, HRH Dr Adamu Maje.

At the Emirs palace, she announced a N100 million business recapitalisation grant for 2,000 women petty traders in Jigawa State as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

She said the grant which is through the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI Economic Empowerment scope, each of the 2,000 beneficiaries will receive a N50,000 business recapitalisation grant to support and expand their already existing businesses.

The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to promoting small and medium-scale enterprises, describing the sector as a critical driver of sustainable economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction in Nigeria.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu noted that empowering women entrepreneurs, particularly those at the grassroots, remains essential to improving household incomes and stimulating local economic development.

She thereafter inaugurated key projects including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy, a tech hub facilitated by the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic and Dialysis Center installed with the state of art dialysis machines, Gandun Sariki Road and Hadejia-Garun Gabas – Dolan Kwana Road.

They keep shopping for excuses but all their arguments have been comprehensively defeated.

⚫️ They ask if everybody must fry akara or they say that you should go and fry akara.

Who said that everybody must fry akara? She was speaking to people that she had given ₦50,000 grant and giving them advice on what they can invest in. You might not need it and that's OK, but she was speaking to those that need it, not you.

⚫️ Why akara?

The people that ask this question believe that frying akara is beneath them, so they ask why akara. Well, it's not just akara, there are scholarships, ICT training, business training, building and equipping of hospitals, clinics and schools, providing equipment to nurses and midwives and other interventions.

If akara frying is beneath you, then leave it for those who need it. All over the world there are people that make street food like hot dogs in the US and fish and chips in the UK. This class of people will benefit from such grants and micro-credit

⚫️ ₦50,000 can't finance akara business.
Everybody knows that's a big lie, but let's imagine that it's true. Then the beneficiaries will add some of their money or go into other business. They are not complaining, so why are you?

⚫️ It's government money.

No it's not. The Renewed Hope Initiative is an NGO that is funded by donations from people like Aliko Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, Sir Emeka Offor and Prince Arthur Eze and from companies like Keystone Bank, Zenith Bank and UBA. There's no budgetry allocation for it.

Every excuse they have brought has been defeated because the only real reason that they are opposed to it is because they hate the person that is doing it. That's the only reason. They would have proclaimed it as the best thing in the world if it was being done by a politician that they like.

But it's not about the person doing it, it is about the beneficiaries and it is pure wickedness to try to deny the beneficiaries of something that can make their lives better.

This is a very good move and I love it alot. Character completed.

All she needed was to do Treasury bill with 1Bn and get 150m. Her money is still with her.

By the way, she is a good woman from all I have seen.

Why not donate it to five business owners at 20m each to grow their business more. And ensure that they all employ a minimum of 10 staff each.

These people just don't want us to grow. And this woman is educated.

She was bragging about sharing 2billion here , 1billion there... If you empower 250 already existing businesses with 20million naira each , that's just about 5billion naira that you just wasted sharing around. If you condition each of the empowered 250 businesses and you condition them to employ at least 10 people each, 10 x 250 is that not 2,500 new jobs you just created!!!

Chai , these people are doing this intentionally.

Good initiative by the first lady. I know some people criticize without hearing or listening attentively to what she said and meant the other time, it's to support petty traders, add to their market money but people took it out of hate and propaganda to criticize her blindly.

Welldone madam, no be everybody go wear suite or work for bank, we just have to accept the reality.
