Why I Approved NYSC Reforms – Tinubu by adenigga(op): 3:06pm On Jul 01
President Bola Tinubu has explained the reasons he approved the recent National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, reforms.

In a statement posted on his verified X handle on Wednesday, the President said the changes are aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical skills and preparing them for national development.

According to him, the reforms, approved by the Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Monday, were part of his administration’s promise to create meaningful opportunities for young people.

“On Monday, at the Federal Executive Council, our administration approved the most consequential reforms of the National Youth Service Corps Scheme since its establishment in 1973.

“On the day I was sworn in as your President, I promised to create meaningful opportunities for our young people. I said women and youth would feature prominently in our administration, and this reform is partly the actualisation of that promise,” Tinubu said.

The President further stated that although the NYSC had served the cause of national unity for more than five decades, the country’s changing realities required a new approach.

“For 53 years, the NYSC has served the cause of national unity. That mission remains important and must be preserved. But the Nigeria of today demands more,” he added.

Tinubu is here to reform the Nigeria, those conformist and status quo will be very angry with him.
They criticized Lagos Calabar Coastal road, reject state police, mock NELFUND, lament subsidy removal, cry against FX unification.

Do you have to blame them? no, because their level of reasoning are too shallow and can't comprehend the purpose of the reforms

10 THINGS PRESIDENT Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu IS FIXING THAT PREVIOUS PRESIDENTS DIDN’T:

1. State Finances: Instead of bailouts and unpaid salaries, states now have significantly higher revenues and greater fiscal stability.

2. Consumer Credit: Through CREDICORP, Nigeria is building a structured credit culture, giving workers access to affordable financing and opening the door to broader financial inclusion.

3. State Police: A long-discussed security reform that previous administrations couldn’t advance is finally gaining traction.

4. Local Government Autonomy: For the first time, grassroots governance is being treated as a priority, bringing governance closer to the people.

5. Electricity Decentralization: States can now generate, transmit and distribute electricity, ending decades of excessive centralization.

6. NELFUND: Students from low-income families can now access tertiary education funding without the traditional financial barriers.

7. Tax Reform: The tax system is being simplified, reducing the burden on low-income earners while improving compliance and accountability.

8. ASUU Stability: For the first time in many years, Nigerian students are completing academic sessions without prolonged nationwide ASUU disruptions.

9. Mega Infrastructure Projects: The Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and Lagos-Abuja Super Highway represent infrastructure ambitions on a scale rarely seen in Nigeria’s history.

10. Food Inflation Reversal: Nigeria is witnessing a decline in food prices after a period of sharp increases; something many Nigerians thought would never happen once prices had risen.

Love him or hate him, these are major structural reforms and projects that previous administrations either could not or did not implement.

May Nigeria win🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬

I strongly disagree with development.

With the current security challenges in our great country, NYSC should be mandatory 3 year service.

Numbers and stats only lie. We do not have the required count of personnel’s to keep the country safe.

NYSC should repurposed.

You want to carry graduates from the South to go and die in the family business of the North called insecurity.

You want Boko Haram to kill Southern graduates so that Zulum the Governor of Borno can fight for the integration of Boko Haram into the Army. Borno that doesn't produce up to 3,000 graduates in a year.

The Governor of Katsina is renovating cemeteries. Let Katsina graduates of cemetery engineering go and be teaching in Katsina schools.

Let graduates serve in their states of origin so that those who want to kill themselves can keep killing themselves.

NB. Just saw this now. Very good.

I wanted to read through but couldn't go beyond no 1.
State finance, Nigeria has not published any financial audits since 1999. Any thing that is afraid of light is Darkness.
Who will be the first president to be transparent with Nigerian financing, then we can talk about a good president

I was about to say I hope this thing does not make people ask if the policymakers and the President himself did NYSC.

The Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy (CFRPA) has filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Kano seeking the disqualification of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the 2027 presidential election over allegations of certificate forgery.

‎According to court documents seen by Daily Trust, the plaintiff alleged that Tinubu presented forged academic certificates from Chicago State University and a fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2023 elections.

‎The suit, marked FHC/K/CS/312/2026, lists Tinubu, INEC, and Chicago State University as defendants.

The plaintiff contended that Tinubu never attended Government College Lagos as claimed, noting that the school was established in 1974, four years after Tinubu allegedly graduated.

The CSO further argued that Tinubu does not possess a valid secondary school certificate, which is the minimum constitutional requirement to contest for the presidency.

It claimed that INEC had failed to act on its petition dated June 19, 2026, demanding clarification on Tinubu’s eligibility.

‎In its statement of claims, the group referenced a 2023 U.S. court ruling in In Re: Application of Atiku Abubakar (No. 23 CV 05099), which compelled Chicago State University to release Tinubu’s academic records.

The plaintiff insisted those records revealed false entries and inconsistencies, including a forged University of Cambridge General Certificate of Education.

‎The prayers asked by the plaintiff included declaration of forgery against Tinubu’s Chicago State University certificate, issuance of an order directing INEC to disqualify him from the 2027 presidential election, directing CSU to strike Tinubu’s name from its records and perpetual injunction restraining INEC from uploading Tinubu’s name as a candidate.

‎The plaintiff also submitted affidavits of non-multiplicity of action, witness statements, and letters to the NYSC and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, demanding disclaimers on the alleged fake NYSC certificate.
