It used to be almost all of the countrys foreign earnings untill the brutal subsidy removals. If they were not busy using national earnings to service bad debts, they would not have removed the subsidies that have ruined lives across board.

Nigeria was using 97% of her revenue to service debt until BAT Came In and removed subsidy.
The major cause was because fuel and dollar were being subsidised, not because of foreign loans. These loans has low interest.
The submission you can tell me is that collecting too much loans will make them have some influence on your country.

Eg pushing agenda like LGBTQ, coerce you to buy their weapons and vaccines etc .
that's if you allow them. China and Russia still collect loans . Collecting loans is never a bad idea if you use it properly.

Criticising everything about the government doesn't make sense all the time.
ASUU , have not gone on strike for more than a week or less since subsidy was removed, civil servants are paid as at when due, construction is on going around federal the federation.
During GEJ when subsidy was still In place and the economy was good As per say PMB had to give state governors bailout funds to pay salaries and ASUU was still going on strike.

The only way corruption will reduce drastically is when death penalty is being placed on corrupt public office holders and civil servants . But trust me no one is talking In that direction because majority of these people are corrupt and just waiting to have their slice of the national cake.
As strict as China is people still steal think about it.

The world Bank should be told that since they insisted to loan this obnoxious amount to these heinous characters, they have to collect/recoup this loan from Tinubu, his family, and the coven of witches and wizards called The APC.
Simple!
World Bank is not looking to get any money back from Tinubu ... his family or anyone associated to any of them. They will give loans that they know Nigeria can't repay .... what you would never hear from Tinubu is the terms of the loan agreement. These loans are tied to our resources ... whether it's lithium reserves ... oil reserves ... agricultural lands and policies ... the WH know what they want to control .... and in these times keep out of reach of China and Russia. When we see military bases being set up ... when we see huge swaths of lands being used for large scale farms ... GMO farms ... when we see ports being built .... we'll be shouting "development" not knowing it's about domination. When we can no longer plant our own crops ... what we want when we want ... it will be too late andonly ten will we realize that Tinubu has put yet another noise around our neck . Then what? Yet again .... we need a coup to save our country .. to save ourselves

Insisted? Don't you folks ever get tired of shifting blame? Your government applied for a loan in the name of Nigeria, and the World Bank granted it. The loan was not forced on your government. So, what are you folks on about? huh

Such a tiny amount.
South Africa has more than 5x the debt of Nigeria and they are just around 64 million people.
President Tinubu, please borrow real money and build infrastructures before you leave Aso rock in 2031.
Nigeria has massive deficit of infrastructures.

Modern Dubai was established in 1833 when the Al Maktoum family led members of the Bani Yas tribe to settle at the mouth of the Dubai Creek. The city became globally popular and exploded into a major tourist and business hub in the late 1990s and 2000s, driven by massive infrastructure investments.
Previous Nigerian govts had majorly scammed Nigerians by not investing in infrastructures thereby making Nigerians poor.
They had always just opened borders for cheap foods from other serious countries and embezzle all the money for infrastructures.
Thanks to President Tinubu that is investing massively in infrastructures.

This is how you'll know you people are very dishonest in this blind support of the party that has pushed Nigeria into her darkest era ever.

You want Gov to be sincere with all the loan obtained but is Gov just collecting loan now? The answer is capital NO!

Has Gov ever be sincere with previous one collected? The answer is still the same capital NO!

Have you ever called Gov out for not being sincere with ALL the loan obtained? The answer is still the same capital NO!

Do you as a person truthfully know that Gov will never be sincere with any loan collected? The answer is capital YES!

You judge for yourself!

What a Dumb statement? Which loan will Nigeria not be able to repay? Just 3 years ago, with fewer loans, Nigeria needed almost all their revenue to pay them back. Now, with more loans (in Naira) or slightly fewer (in Dollars), debt servicing is only about half of our revenue.

Think about this: the government's revenue reforms haven't fully kicked in yet, the Naira has been devalued to its correct price, and Nigeria has a really low debt-to-revenue ratio.

Remember, even when Nigeria was struggling (using 100% of revenue to pay off debt), we never defaulted on a loan. So why would we start now, when our revenue is looking better?

The only time Nigeria ever defaulted was under the military, because they were trying to get debt reduction, which they eventually got under Obasanjo.

It just makes sense that as our revenue keeps getting better, our loans will also go up as the government keeps investing a lot to fix the infrastructure problems that have always been a big issue for our country.

So put on thinking cap, before your next post and stop making noise like a baby with zero logics
If the economy is doing so well.... why get this massive loan from the WB? ... did the FG generate money to pay down the debt?.... or loans were used for same? ... how much was borrowed for infrastructure?.. what do we have to show for it? ... and we're borrowing again for infrastructure? .. isn't this a broken record? Simple budget ... we have to borrow... loans piling up on our heads... when will we stop borrowing?

HATE THE THIEF

No Youth should blame himself for the present condition of this country ..

The generation of our leaders met a good country .
They met a good system.
They ruined .
They gave us the future that seems bleak and evil and pointless
We were the brunt of their mistakes and corruption and they want us to solve it by gettingr Our PVC, to vote in their rotten elections, and expect their rotten INec to conduct, while hoping that their rotten Judiciary will uphold our votes....

They believe they have us cornered, but they lie...we are the majority ..we just need to have the right knowledge and mindset.
Because knowledge is our only power.

And this evil government know, that is why they have systematically attacked the education of Nigerians, we became dumber, not by accident...they created a system that will foster the olodo uprising to ensure we lack intellectual capacity to unite IDEOLOGICALLY...

Yes our founding fathers did not ask for indepence randomly..they did under an idealogical structure...and we have deviated.

That is why our leaders ask us to vote them but have no idealogical belief.

They come and promise us Amenities..lights, good roads, job in this 21st century?

Promises they will never keep because the system that allows a Government to promise what are considered basic necessities in saner climes as impacts of leadership is a government that sees it's people as prey.

Soon Nigeria will be united behind the right idealogy, and what that idealogy is will soon.

Still on the matter of idealogy I will encourage you to change your mindset by hating the thief.
We don't hate these thieves enough.

We celebrate and gravitate towards because we operate like sheep in a broken system.

Imagine a future where the majority of Nigerians hate the thief and that majority gains power..
It will be doom for those who have raped, molested and abused our nation and it's coffers for years

In those days
There will be retribution, And consequences

No you don't just get to steal the money meant for a whole state and all you get is an EFCC invitation.

No, at the right time.. every single one those damned kleptomaniacs, will be investigated and made to face the law.
It's one thing to Steal money...it's another thing to live long enough to spend it
What happens If someone like me, get his hands on power...no I won't ignore you crimes, I won't let by gones be bygones.

I will methodically, with due diligence hunt you down, if I and those with my mindset get our hands on power..we will freeze your accounts..every asset you bought with public funds will be confiscated ....keep stealing why you have the chance
The Hell and doom that is waiting for the Average Nigerian politician is unimaginable.

I'm not talking about Judgement after death...
I mean here on earth.

Only those who die on their own like Buhari will be spared from the great retribution my generation will wreak on these people.

If it's not, the world bank won't give us.
We will appreciate the effect of the removal of fuel, fx and electricity subsidies in few year.

I know the masses ain't feeling it yet. Personally it affected me badly between late 2024 and virtually the whole of 2025. So it's not like it was uhuru with me.

But that policy is necessary to save our economy. Shalom

Can you show us a major country that fixed their infrastructure and economy without loans?

Most of the cool infrastructure you see in other countries was built with loans.

Countries with much better economies and infrastructure than Nigeria are still borrowing way more than us, especially when you compare it to our GDP.

If you are too blinded by bias to see what the loans is doing, I am afraid I can't help you with that

Most of the cool infrastructure in those countries were not built by external loans. What cool infrastructure do we have to show for the millions upon millions we borrow?I know you'll deflect. Which of those countries borrow to meet the budget?... year after year? .... the Naira is stabilized... how much has been used to prop it up? $1.25 loan.... what exactly are we getting from it?... no specifics... and you're defending that.... what's the point of having increasing GDP and the masses is getting poorer? ... to survive getting harder? I will allow AI to answer you, perhaps you will be able to understand that better..one more thing what is a loan of 1.2 billion USD to a country of about 200 million people. That is what a local govt borrows in western society

The development of major infrastructure in Western societies—highways, grids, transit systems, and water networks—is almost entirely fueled by debt. Because these projects require massive upfront capital but deliver value over decades, loans and debt financing act as the primary bridge between a blueprint and a finished project.

That's from AI, you can dispute it

This is taken out of context. Do these local governments ... as in City ... and State ... do they from international agencies? ... like the World Bank?... or from the Federal Government? And don't the government partly finance certain infrastructure development projects in the local government areas? The difference is we are consistently borrowing for everything including for budget... every year.. debt upon debt... and you think this is normal? ... or financial mismanagement and incompetence? I do.

I think you're missing the point about what a budget is. You're acting like budget and expenditure are the same thing.

This government, and the foreign government you admire so much, first put the projects they're interested in into the budget. Then they figure out how to get money or borrow money to do those projects and pay salaries and stuff.

When they don't have enough money, they start prioritizing, which is why some projects never get done, that and mismanagement.

So, saying they borrow for the budget and borrow for projects is basically the same thing.

To your main point, you borrow from a bank that's big enough (financially) and willing to lend you money. Nigerian banks, until recently, weren't big enough to lend the government the kind of money they needed, which is a big loss for the country since we're paying interest to foreign countries instead of our own banks and growing our economy. That's why Nigeria takes more foreign loans compared to those foreign governments.

Nigerian banks are bigger now, and if you've noticed, the Tinubu government has been borrowing more locally compared to previous administrations. Some of those trillion-naira profits the banks are reporting might be from that.

Borrowing locally is generally better than internationally, especially if you can get the loans under similar conditions.

What you should be worried about is if they're paying back their loans. Not only is this government paying back its loans, it's doing it better than previous administrations, with some money left over in the revenue.

So chill out and let them do their job.

The Western governments will push a corrupt character to the presidency of a developing country, and then use him to obtain endless loans at cut throats interests from the world Bank and the IMF. That country's foreign exchange earnings from the sell of her mineral resources and all that, will then be used to pay back the mounting interests on these loans, thereby turning the whole earnings from the country's resources into the hands of ruthless neocolonial capitalists in Washington, London and Paris.
