Pastor Adeboye: If Not For My Prayers, $1 Would Have Hit ₦10,000

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has declared that the Nigerian Naira would have collapsed to an all-time low of ₦10,000 to one US Dollar if not for the intervention of prayers.

Speaking on the nation’s economic challenges, Pastor Adeboye acknowledged that Nigeria was already grappling with financial difficulties before President Bola Tinubu assumed office. He, however, noted that opposition to some of the current administration’s policies led certain individuals to “create problems” that triggered a sharp fall in the value of the Naira.

“Before Tinubu came into power we were already having financial problems,” the respected cleric stated. “Some people hated his policies and started creating problems and made the Naira to fall. Then we prayed.”

According to Pastor Adeboye, the sustained prayers of the faithful prevented a total economic meltdown.

“If not for our prayers, 1 Dollar would have been 10,000 Naira,” he asserted.

The revered pastor’s comments come amid ongoing debates about the impact of the government’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of exchange rates, which have contributed to inflationary pressures and currency volatility in the country.

Many Nigerians continue to struggle with the rising cost of living, even as the federal government maintains that these tough decisions are necessary for long-term economic recovery.

Pastor Adeboye’s statement has sparked reactions across social media, with some praising the emphasis on prayer while others argue that sound economic policies, rather than prayers alone, are needed to stabilize the Naira.
