Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew: Fake Agency DG Fraudulently Opened CBN Account –Onanuga by cule7(op): 6:03am On Jul 02
The Presidency has alleged that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who purportedly paraded himself as the Director-General of a non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council cum Presidential Economic Advisory Council, fraudulently opened a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account using forged government documents.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said police investigations uncovered that Adeyemi used fake documents to mislead the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation into facilitating the opening of the account.

According to the statement, investigators established that no government funds were transferred into the account.

The Presidency said police investigations also revealed that Adeyemi operated 34 bank accounts, including nine allegedly opened in the names of fictitious agencies such as the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Public Private Partnership (FIPA-APP).

According to the statement, Adeyemi forged his appointment letter, falsely presented himself as a government appointee, and sought a note verbal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enable him and members of his team obtain United States visas.

The Presidency explained that concerns over the alleged fake agency first came to light after the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, received complaints from officials of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council that another agency appeared to be operating at cross-purposes with it.

It said Gbajabiamila subsequently petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force on October 17, 2025, requesting an investigation into individuals allegedly forging appointment letters purportedly issued from his office.

According to the Presidency, the police arrested Adeyemi on October 27, 2025, at his office in Abuja, where several documents and other exhibits were recovered during searches conducted at both his office and residence in Suleja.

The statement added that during interrogation, Adeyemi claimed one Dolapo Babatunde Tanimola helped him obtain the alleged fake appointment letter. However, investigators later established that Tanimola had died in a fire incident at Kachi Hotel in Abuja five days before Adeyemi’s arrest.

The Presidency said the police concluded that the agency Adeyemi claimed to head never existed and that the documents recovered from him were forged.

"The act of the suspect constitutes criminal forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence, thereby bringing the office of the Chief of Staff to the President and the Presidency to disrepute before the public and international community,” the police report quoted in the statement read.

Based on its findings, the police filed an eight-count charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja against Adeyemi and two alleged accomplices on November 27, 2025. The case is scheduled for hearing on July 27.

The Presidency also dismissed Adeyemi’s recent claim that he was appointed by the Chief of Staff, describing it as false and inconsistent with statements he previously made to investigators.

It urged politicians and members of the public to refrain from using Adeyemi’s allegations against Gbajabiamila, insisting that the matter is already before the court and should be allowed to run its course.

Deal gone bad. There is no smoke without fire. Nobody will attempt to run something as elaborate as this without the help and consent of the presidency. It's not possible. So all of these damage control is useless.

This man obviously knows what he is saying and his story has been consistent over multiple channels and different times. This is shameful, a govt of criminals.
Re: Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew: Fake Agency DG Fraudulently Opened CBN Account –Onanuga by AMINDA:
Yet, he was able to secure a courtesy visit to the EFCC Chairman. Who will now investigate who? The jokes write themselves.

According to Mr Adeyemi, the “non-existent” agency has operated for over a year, has a space at the federal secretariat, a domiciliary account, a pounds account, and a treasury single account, all of which are domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

All the people in tulumbu government are people that are 10 times worse than he is, that's why you can't see people like Dele farotimi, Dr Adesina ( former afdb chairman) etc in his government... From the top to the last person in that government, no matter the tribe are worse than tulumbu, that's why the only thing they care about is to do damage control

When the people of Lagos were against Tinubu presidency, some riffraffs tagged them “Omo ale”

Just imagine this kind of scandal. How many more of this type of appointments are not in the public view yet?

The kind of revelations that’ll come out after this government is out will be more shocking than the loots of Abacha.

How did we get here as a nation? This whole situation exposes a deeply broken system. The Presidency wants us to believe this man was just a lone rogue operator, but think about the logistics: this 'non-existent' council allegedly had a budget allocation and operated an office right inside the Federal Secretariat. You don't just walk into a secure government building and set up shop without the umbrella protection of highly powerful individuals within the villa.

The hypocrisy here is staggering. President Tinubu’s allies and the media once ran to the market square screaming about corruption during the Jonathan era. Yet today, we are witnessing an unprecedented, institutionalized level of fraud, and that very same vicious media has suddenly lost its voice. This administration and its incompetent cabinet have failed on every front. From systemic corruption to the collapsing economy, nothing is working, and everything is heading south. It’s time for them to honorably vacate the presidency.

There is no way this guy would confidently parade himself as DG of a non existent Agency without the support of someone in the Presidency.

The guy allegedly stated that trouble started when Gbajabiamila demanded 45% of all allocation to the Agency. So if the Agency is fake, why was the agency included in the Budget? And monies allocated to it? Now that he declined to honor your greedy request, you went all out to crush him.

All of you must be investigated by an independent body and culprits amongst you sanctioned.
Re: Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew: Fake Agency DG Fraudulently Opened CBN Account –Onanuga by Harmony22: 9:40am On Jul 02
All What onanuga is doing is damage control trying to protect someone in the presidency that is very close to the president in which this incident could taint the integrity of the president possible Gbajabiamila himself.
And This shows that with proper scrutiny there could many such non official offices that are feeding from the federal budget whose function is not recognized and non existent only as a conduit to fleece public expenditure .

Is this not an indictment on the government? These people think they are talking to fools. The earlier APC miscreants realize Tinubu is an incompetent liability to Nigeria, the better for them.

This is not a Fake CBN Account

There is no smoke without Fire.
For Prince Adeyemi to be Bold in operating that Agency, Someone from Federal Govt was backing him.

Adeyemi accused Gbajamila (Chief of Staff) of receiving #400M from the Agency. & Also was demanding 48percent of the Agency Budget.

GBAJAMILA SHOULD STEP ASIDE FOR EFCC TO DO THERE JOB.

HE IS COMPLICENT OF THIS FRAUD.

In my opinion, I strongly believe Gbajabiamila is culpable and should be investigated.

With immediate effect, Gbajabiamila should be relieved of his position by suspension until investigation is completed or sacked.

The level of complicity and compromise and regulatory supervision failure on this matter is extreme.

This is crazy, how did we get to this all time low in this nation....APC has brought pain, sorrow, indignity, deceit, criminality of the highest order to a national level.I said it when they started telling us that 'snake swallowed money','plane landed on a highway in Delta and they occupants and owner are unknown',an order was giving for the withdrawal of troops in Borno before they kids where kidnapped and to this moment, nobody knows the higher authority that gave they order.
Nigeria under APC is a big circus, they leaders are national clowns, their statements are only good for comic relief.

Howw can someone open an account in CBN without the FG knowing? This is impossible, there was collusion by the CBN officials in this, he didnt eat that 1.3bn alone. This tells you just how far below the apex bank has fallen and questions the safety of our local banks.
