I actually think this is a step in the right direction—provided it's implemented properly.

Adire is more than just a fabric; it's a symbol of Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and creativity. Introducing it into the NYSC uniform could help promote our local textile industry, create jobs for artisans and manufacturers, and encourage Nigerians to proudly embrace indigenous products.

It could also boost the global visibility of Adire, much like countries such as India have promoted khadi and Japan has preserved the kimono as part of their cultural identity.

Beyond the cultural benefits, it presents an economic opportunity. Increased demand for locally made Adire could support small businesses, fashion designers, weavers, and textile producers across the country.

That said, the success of the initiative will depend on ensuring the uniforms are durable, affordable, comfortable for the Nigerian climate, and produced transparently by local manufacturers.

If done well, this isn't just a uniform change—it could become a statement of national identity while supporting local industries and creating economic value.

If there are no hidden political or regional (tribal-based) reasons for these reforms, it will stand and work if however, the main reasons behind these reforms is to favour one region or tribe, it is just a matter of time, it will fail. This is the reason many things have failed in this country.

l don't like any politician but I think this policy might likely work especially for the fact that you are sending Graduates to were their various degrees / competency lies ,eg Chemical & Petrol Chemical Engineer's will held to the different oil companies including NNPC , Accounting/ Banking finance/ Statisticians will face Banks and Financial institutions etc, so , it is commendable ooooooooo mucheche 😂

Abeg why will children go to school and be asked to choose between Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa to learn? If I am not either of them, then why should my children be learning another language from mine. If you want your children to learn your local language, teach them at home. This is another area the minister of education should look into and scrap

Adire people should get ready. Awon lo kan. They will make so much money and be thankful for this initiative from the federal government.

Now, this is a business opportunity staring a lot of people in the face but some people will still find fault in this and complain about not having a job.

This is the time for serious people to take positions.

Again, Igbo is not the opposite of the Yoruba culture as these two cultures are miles apart. While the Adire was discovered by the great people of the South West and has stretched further to become a prestigious household cultural identity in many other places like even the far Northern city of Kano, isi agu on the other hand is a borrowed cultural tradition and symbol. The screenshot below should help your thinking better.
While the adire represents the ingenuity of the Nigerian people, the Isi agu is a European invention and adopting such would represent slavery.

FYI most people today undertake NYSC for the allawee and to fulfill all righteousness. It adds nothing to anyone.
