If Iran weren't a threat to those bases, the Americans wouldn't move away.

The Americans threw all they had at the Iranians, I guess the last card left to be played is a ground invasion and I'm very the Americans are completely averse to such operation unless they eventually grows the balls, but then a terrible disastrous humiliation will loom ahead for the Americans.

How are the bases a liability? You don't understand what America's Forward Defense Strategy and Forward Basing means to America. If it is possible America will secure a base at your home backyard just to achieve this cause it is very important.

Can strategic bombers like B-52, B-2, refuelling tankers fly from a carrier?Iran was carpet bombed with this bombers. Even before the war all the gulf states kept assuring Iran that US bases on their soil won't be used to attack Iran.. US had to fly strategic bombers all the way from bases in the UK and RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus

If those bases were liability that means US bases in the Pacific and others around the world are liabilities.

Nobody said Iran didn't take hit. US and Israel bombed hundreds of targets in Iran. But for a country under crippling sanctions to have built its own hardware and hit targets across Israel and to the point of sending US packing up its bases in the gulf is extraordinary. A country bombed by ttwo powerful forces and it is still standing that's resilience. Don't forget US was the one to seek ceasefire.
