chadbasin:Once again, don't forget say na popular brands dem dey easily fake. Be sure you know how to identify the quality real ones or have a trusted dealer. This applies to almost all things. |

twinskenny:I swear I'm afraid installing this on my roof... my landlord sef told me he saw online that solar panel dey burn house chaii . Is it true house? Also, pls I wanna ask isn't this a flat roof, I heard some people said it can be placed on it directly without using that rack |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 7:34am On Jul 03 |
Bryanluke:Electricity can burn down a house, too. So can the gas used for cooking. And so can the petrol that people keep in their homes to power these noisy generators. Many have died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by keeping a generator too close to their sleeping quarters. Yet, every day, people use these things. One thing is guaranteed: if anything is misused, you stand a chance of it becoming fatal. One tablet of paracetamol is fine for that occasional headache, but if you take 20 at once, you already know what's going to happen. If you get professional to handle your installation, you'd be fine. Una president dey use one in Aso Rock...Aso Rock last time I checked is not on 🔥 |

Bryanluke:Solar panel related fire mostly would happen from those using high voltage setUp and that's if not done well. When I say DC is wicked, that's what I mean. AC would diconnect easily during issues the moment it sparks enough (thanks to the physics involved) BUT DC has no Zero point hence would just continue going except the conductor on that section glows enough to burn / melt away breaking the connection. Once again, those doing high voltage setUps needs be careful especially when not using quality MC4 connectors or just twisting wires together. Some DIY improvisations are meant for those doing small scale; not those doing something big. As for placing the solar panel directly on the roof without anything to hold it; that's very dangerous because it would stay but wind / breeze can throw it away and you need not be told the danger when it lands on anything including humans or cars or whatever. if you can't afford mounting accessories, get one who can use binding wire well enough and the binding wire shouldn't be exposed so it doesn't rust overTime. If it's a decking, with edges that act like shallow walls, then you could keep them without support though still not 100% adviced as situations could differ |

mctfopt:Why would you prefer gas though when you have enough storage and or solar power for it? |

No one will. My gas is resting. Only used when we want to cook multiple foods like rice and plantain in the morning . The induction cooker go cook the rice, gas go fry plantain NSEstudent: |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NSEstudent: 2:47pm On Jul 03 |
Gshems:Well, he said he does. I just want to know his reason. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 3:03pm On Jul 03 |
Gshems:still if you got the storage / capacity, buy an additional induction cooker so while one coks the rice, the other fries the plantain. mayBe you even buy more should in case you wanna cook multiple pots at same time |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Gshems: 3:52pm On Jul 03 |
bassdow:I no get capacity and storage ó. My battery is 4kw |

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by justasitis: 5:35pm On Jul 03 |
Gshems:Next time you can go for double infrared cooker if you have high battery capacity. Something like this
|
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 6:16pm On Jul 03 |
justasitis:I suggest those who haven't bought should go for double burner even if they think they don't need one as they can easily leave one of them switched off while using the other. Alternatively, in spirit on redundancy, kukuma buy 2 separate ones so should 1 go bad for whatever reason, you ain't left stranded |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 6:29pm On Jul 03 |
bassdow:thanks.. I'm using the binding wire above. I'm on a band A & not using an heavy setup as we do have light and however I'm even thinking of going off grid as my wife and children comes back from shop at 9pm and that's the time we use light, watch TV for an hour and go to bed to sleep with Fan only. However you talked about the binding wire, if it rust does that mean it'll cut off after a while if it rust . Lastly, with Just light and Tv I should be able to off grid for night TV, 10w bulb & dc fan usage overnight while everybody goes out in the morning while attached it to a 18v 200w(2 pcs) cux I only have Bsc pwm controller already kept aside

The difference isn't significant OgogoroFreak: |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mrreed(m): 6:35pm On Jul 03 |
To use this simultaneously, it is better to replace your kitchen socket with a changeover or properly rated breaker. Otherwise, you might be replacing socket occasionally justasitis: |

Be careful of bryanluke aka Stephen ayantoye on this thread He's looking for a way to scam people's on this thread Don't say I didn't warn you oooo |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by smallsmall: 8:08pm On Jul 03 |
Bryanluke:Try and use stainless steel wire (the shiny, silver one). That one will not rust. Also, l will advise against putting your Solar Panels directly on any iron/aluminum roofing sheet. Try and get the Aluminum railing, you can go to any Aluminum Village to buy it directly. They use it as Window Profile and it is far-far cheaper from such places. Safe comes first and above any other thing, let us not take too much fire risk, so we can have rest of mind. |

Mrreed:It’s not a matter of “might”!he will definitely keep changing it |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 8:41pm On Jul 03 |
smallsmall:can you share the sample of the binding wire you talking about and also I'm not putting it on aluminium or iron roof. It's a slate roof like i said earlier |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 8:48pm On Jul 03*. Modified: 7:18am On Jul 04 |
smallsmall:I saw this installed on aluminium roof. I'm not sure this person used rail on this 2pcs of 200w panel. But my own roof is slate

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 8:54pm On Jul 03 |
Mrreed:Actually I just tell people to use those sockets with round holes and they should buy it tokunbo. Or just tell the seller it's for big electric cooker. You over paint a big picture so they get what you mean and compromise less. Also should use minimum of 4mm AC wire though would suggest 6mm or higher |
