GOOD NEWS: Federal Executive Council Approves ₦2.078 trillion for 23 Major Road Projects Across 10 States Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi announced that FEC has approved 23 strategic road infrastructure projects valued at approximately ₦2.078 trillion across 10 states in the country, following the council meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The projects cover the states of Adamawa, Taraba, Ebonyi, Kwara, Cross River, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo, and Plateau and they are designed to enhance interstate connectivity, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and other goods, reduce transportation costs and travel time, and stimulate economic development in the affected regions. Key particular projects and components highlighted include: - Reconstruction of approximately 400.9 kilometres of federal highways by the Dangote Group under a tax-credit arrangement, valued at ₦1.8325 trillion. This replaces an earlier 2022 contract and aims to accelerate delivery using durable concrete pavement technology. - Approval of the full business case for the operation and maintenance of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway under a modified Swiss challenge procurement model. President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Works to commence procurement for the urgent reconstruction of deteriorated sections using concrete pavement to improve durability, safety, and reduce long-term maintenance costs. - Phase II of the Yola–Fufore–Gurin Road in Adamawa State, approved at a cost of ₦15.246 billion, following the successful completion of Phase I. - An augmentation of ₦15 billion for a road project in Gashua, Yobe State (originally awarded in 2022), to address significant increases in construction material costs. These approvals represent one of the largest single-day investments in federal highway development under the current administration and form part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria’s transport network. Projects like these should be used as point of reference. 2 Trillion Naira no be moi moi o. That is the total cost of the annual budget of some countries in Africa.

Olofofo247ng:We are incredibly fortunate to have a man like Peter Obi at a time like this in Nigeria. He embodies the integrity, competence, humility, and vision that define true leadership. While many seek power for personal gain, he continues to inspire hope through character, accountability, and service. Leaders like him are rare, and nations are transformed when such qualities are valued over politics as usual. |
