Is It Better To Study Abroad Or Do A Master’s In Nigeria? by TobiNaija(op):
Five years ago, I would’ve said, “Study abroad, no question.”

Today, I think the better question is: What kind of life do you want after your master’s?

If your goal is to build an international career, studying abroad can make sense because of the networking opportunities, research facilities, and, in some countries, post-study work visas.

If your career is rooted in Nigeria, however, a local master’s can be a smarter financial decision. You avoid taking on significant debt, stay close to your professional network, and can invest the money you save in certifications or building practical experience.

The biggest mistake I see people make is borrowing a huge amount of money for a master’s abroad without a clear plan for how it will improve their career.

I recently put together a more detailed comparison, including stories from Nigerians who’ve taken both paths and the trade-offs they wish they’d known beforehand: https://feedcover.com/s/V5zvbbo

If you’ve done your master’s in Nigeria or abroad, what would you advise someone making this decision today?

What I would like to say is that if you want to limit your career and chances in life to your locality and nation, study in Nigeria.
If you like exploring and would like to broaden your chances and career, go for the international masters abroad.

P.S: I’m not talking about those that went for their international masters for the sole aim to japa and wouldn’t mind living their entire life on the menial jobs they got even after permanent residency

Some people use masters as an opportunity to gain more exposure
