There were plans to merge the Anioma and Orlu state creation movements into a single "Anim-Oma State" project with Orlu as the capital.

During a meeting convened by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu to consolidate competing South-East state creation demands, stakeholders agreed to merge the Anioma movement (led by Senator Ned Nwoko) and the Anim State movement (led by Senator Osita Izunaso). The proposed Anim-Oma State would comprise Anioma in Delta State, the old Orlu zone in Imo State, and Ihiala Local Government in Anambra State.

The Anioma delegation reportedly agreed to cede Asaba as the capital in favor of Orlu in Imo State, a position affirmed by Senator Nwoko.

The Anim-Oma state with Orlu as it's capital is why Ned Nwoko was rejected by his people.

Former Governor Okowa swung into action upon hearing that Ned Nwoko had agreed in a meeting with SE stakeholders to merge Anioma with Orlu state project and cede Asaba to Orlu as the new proposed capital.

While legislators from Delta North in the Delta State Assembly alongside Traditional rulers in Anioma all rejected merging Anioma to Orlu project, the Governor and entire State Assembly members of Imo had already drawn plans and set aside money to build a governor's house for the proposed Anim-Oma state.

So what in God's name will make Ned Nwoko to agree to subscribe to Anim-Oma state and have Asaba lose it's capital status and see to Anioma people become a minority among a majority Ibos population?

Was the entire premise of Anioma state meant to charter an independent course for Anioma people?

Why then did Ned agree to the terms of Ibo politicians to join Anim Oma and lose everything including their own soverighty , identity, state capital ?
