Nigeria’s challenge is low revenue, not high debt – World Bank
The World Bank has said Nigeria’s biggest fiscal challenge is weak revenue mobilisation rather than excessive borrowing, urging the government to prioritise efforts to boost revenue generation to support sustainable economic growth.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, the World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mathew Verghis, said Nigeria’s debt profile remains moderate by international standards and is significantly different from countries experiencing debt distress.

No sane person will like to be taxed only for it to be looted or wasted.

What do you expect the same people lending you money you don't need to tell you

They'd be out of business if they didn't have foolish African countries to entrap with useless debt

Nigerians are so gullible

But without debt, development would be super slow.

Do you really think Dangote could've built his refinery without debt?

If we just wait until we have enough cash for our infrastructure, we'll never get anywhere.

Every Nigerian thinks any government they don't like is just stealing.

The so called world Bank wants the government to get more revenue..., but from where? How do you get more revenue from a comatose economy already decimated by world Bank stipulations such as the removal of subsidies, increased tarrifs and rates, fuel hikes and all?? Do they want this horr8ble government they helped impose on Nigerians to increase the taxes more? Tax who next? Tax dead bodieshuh

But why is this generation of Nigerias leaders always desperate to kowtow ro the dictates of the world Bank. Is this nothing but vintage colonial mentality? Most of Nigerias current economic policies are based on world Bank/IMF dictates. How can a country of nearly 300 million people outsource the management of her economy/economic policy making initiatives to a neo colonial contraption that has wrecked endless numbers of developing nations without shamehuh

I did..yes it is intelligent.

If you are not seeing the values that roads and other govt infrastructures are adding to our economy and way of life, perhaps you are the one that needs to sit down and question your mental health.

In just 3 years , the bold steps that this govt have taken, is unmatched in the history of our nation.

If you like add dried human waste to the regular weed you are so fond of smoking, this govt is doing 8 years.

How do you generate a real revenue when the "little" generated is looted in real time.

No amount of generated revenue can cover or compensate for a heavily corrupted and heavily looted country.

I challenge Tinubu to initiate the most babaric revenue generating avenues, regardless of how the people may see it...

I can swear on my life that it won't still be enough:

Because, everything is looted as they come (in real time).

Pay-As-You-Go (PAYE)
Loot- As-It-Comes (LAIC)

Show me a country that survived by looting its Treasury by 10s, 100s, 1000s, of billions, and in the trillions.

This country was designed to fail and the only solution is division or purest form of federalism for some glimpse of light.
