The more the presidency tries to defend Gbajabiamila in this scandal, the more it is rubbishing itself and portraying Nigeria in a very bad image. Gbajabiamila should come out and defend himself against all the allegations against him instead of destroying the good reputation of SGF,HOS, AGF,CBN governor, EFCC, and even the national assembly members. The rubberstamp national assembly under Tinubu should do due diligence on a budget that was transmitted to it by the executive? Do you request for such due diligence in all the loans that Akpabio have been approving for Tinubu without question? I thought Tinubu was the master strategist who knows how to spot talents, how comes he has such slimmy characters around him who are inserting dubious agencies into the budget just to get a cut? A fictitious budget was presented by the president to nass. Nass passed same. The president signed the nass approved appropriation into law. Both the president and nass are culpable as long as his signature rests on both documents.

What is the essence of the president sending the budget to the National Assembly for appropriation? If the due diligence of the NASS is not required, the executive could as well prepare the budget and pass it into law by themselves.

Section 80(4) gives only the National Assembly the power to appropriate all public funds. It is only the National Assembly that can appropriate funds, not the president. That is why every proposal in the budget must be defended. So, the National Assembly must tell Nigerians the person that appeared before them to defend the proposal of the agency before they accept to appropriate funds to it.

Isolate him as the conman who has been parading himself as the DG of the agency when Mr. President has not appointed him into that position. That is a better argument than claiming the agency doesn't exist.

The National Budget is an act of parliament. That agency came to life with a legal status the day Mr. President signed the 2026 budget into law. The 2026 appropriation act created the agency by appropriating personnel, overhead and capital funds to it. So, it already has a legal status. It exist under the 2026 Appropriation Act.
