South African companies in Nigeria are owned by SA government. And some ministers in the current administration in South Africa have openly supported the protests, destruction, killing and injuring of black immigrants in South Africa, both legal or illegal immigrants.
BTW: why are these ones just coming out now?

MTN is a privately-owned business. How can it be held accountable for the wrongdoing of the Citizens of a nation it is linked to ?

This is crude and no different to demanding innocent children be punished and jailed for the sins of their parents.

It is the Nigerian Government that must take the lead and cut off trade ties with South Africa if they are serious and not about playing to the gallery alone and empty sabre rattling.
Just shut up !
You are a disgrace.
Ukrainians and Russians citizens are collecting rising death tolls for the actions of the politicians.

But Nigeria don't have the balls to punish anyone due extreme corruption.

BAD LEADERSHIP AND CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA IS THE WORST GLOBALLY.
South Africans did the right thing by chasing out those born criminals from Nigerians out of their country.

Nigerians with valid visas are still in South Africans.
I have relations who live there now

Lol. You are at war with South Africa? Why not send Nigerian troops to invade SA as Russians soldiers declared war on Ukraine? Nonsense.

Some of you are so childishly emotional. This is a matter of diplomacy and international relations. Not war. Our diplomats simply have to do better representing Nigerians who live outside Nigeria.

Corruption in Nigeria is worse and witchcrafty...

Your kind who failed to call out leaders for what they are, are the ones enabling them and their corruption - possibly because you are feeding from the crumbs.

No allow me swear for you this morning... 😕

Well, I Blame Britain that joined animals and humans together as one country, else, I wouldn't be reading this your mindlessness this morning undecided

That's the level of your ignorance.

South Africa investment like Stanbic ibtc pension for instance has about 22% of pension of Nigerian workers. What would you do to such company without considering the effect of your actions on the workers and pensioners?

It calls for caution.
Re: MTN Nigeria: "Don't Punish Us For South Africa's Xenophobia" - Karl Toriola by Reference(m): 10:34am On Jul 04
Clearly understood. Of course it is a case of apples and oranges.

But sir, as a Nigerian you are in no position to speak about what you have no influence or control over.

Chances are that you cannot freely walk the streets of South Africa. So you cannot excuse the actions of citizens of another country or apologize on their behalf.

Nigerians should dump MTN and DStv. There are other alternatives that are manageable

Anyone saying Nigeria should take over MTN and nationalise it or force the sale of the company to a Nigerian should not forget that we have a purely Nigerian company in the Telecoms sector as well. A company that prefers spending money on celebrities than improving its quality of service. That company is Glo. Can we confidently say Glo can be as reliable as MTN?
People like you need to stop pushing this false narrative. I used MTN and Glo for two years and I can tell you for free: Glo is much more reliable.

There are places in this country where MTN does not work. You don't have to go far...just enter ordinary bwari in Abuja or Agbani in Enugu, and see if your MTN data will work.

Rest!

Best to separate economic interests from Xenophobia as it is only a subset of the big picture known as Xenophobia.

They are both leaders in their sectors.
We are not in prime position to control things as net consumers.

It will just be like the America-China trade battles that America cannot possibly win without grossly damaging itself.

You might excuse digital television as trivial but telecommunications is in the bracket of CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE and everything from security to the economy is tied into it. And MTN is without a doubt market leader.

How we found ourselves in this position of exposure to foreign domination in such a sector is talk for another day.

Your comment shows how ignorant and senseless you are...grin grin grin

Firstly, When MTN was exploiting Nigerians that per second billing is not possible and charged Nigerians for one minute even if they spend just 10 seconds on call, Glo came to the rescue.

Secondly, when MTN and other networks could not function because of Global Internet outage, Again, Glo was the only Network provider that worked in Nigeria because of the investment they already had in underwater cable.

Glo have cheaper Call and Data plans than MTN, Glo don't steal your data like MTN does (do your research the complains are all over the Internet).

I don't work for Glo but I can tell you that the exit of MTN from Nigeria will be a welcome development because we already have a better alternative...grin grin grin
You can choose disagree with with the opinions of others without the using insults. We can amicably have divergent views on issues

That's being said, I did not say glo has not done that part but I am an individual entitled to my choices as long as I am funding it.

I prefer the telecom services that mtn is delivering especially where am resident. If glo is better for you then by all means go with them

If Nigeria is trying to get back at south Africa there is other avenues they can hit them where it hurts
