INEC Extends Voter Registration To 24th July, 2026 by NaijaphiliaBlog(op): 8:28pm On Jul 04
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by 2 weeks and also launched a new self-service online registration portal for first-time voters.

This was disclosed via a statement by INEC on Friday 03 July 2026.

The CVR which began 18August2025 and was originally scheduled to end on Friday 10July2026 will now continue till Friday 24July2026.

According to the statement, the exercise was extended after a review of the CVR and feedback from INEC state offices, political parties, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders.

Also, as from Wednesday 8July2026 a fully online self-service option will be available for first-time registrants.

The service will be accessible via the Commission’s dedicated portal at:

https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/

INEC added that the new portal will enable eligible citizens to complete their voter registration plus biometric capture via their personal devices from anywhere in the world, without having to physically go to an INEC office.

Go and register and get your PVC. Polling units are not on social media

Anyone shouting rigging after the 2027 election might be arrested and send to prison as we don't want any silly excuses from the opposition in 2027

It should extend to 3 months before elections period!✅

In my SANE CLIMATE:
Up to 1 month before elections!

Trying to delay registration to STEAL VOTERS’ PVCs.🙄

As a typical Nigerian, I'll wait until the 24rd before going to do my registration. Then I'll complain about the crowd and how incompetent the system is. I'll blame Lord Lugard and his girlfriend for joining this country together.

I'll blame baba Alakara and Iya Alakara and APC for keeping me in the sun for over 6 hours without attending to me. I'll talk about how every system in the country has failed.

Then INEC would move the date forward and I'll go home and wait for the deadline before repeating the same process again.

This is when we all need the so-called "celebrities" and "influencers" to make their followers aware so the can have their PVCs and vote rightly in the next elections.

Dont let your conscience be bought again for another 4 years with ordinary rice, garri etc.

First time voters find it hard to use that platform

The portal is actually very easy to use.

Also, INEC has now simplified the process such that you can do everything on your phone, including capturing your passport photo and fingerprints.

In future, we might be able to vote without even leaving our homes.

Why the extension?

This is uncalled for!

INEC should be strict with deadlines.

Been to 2 inec offices lately in Benin.
Omo people are not turning up unless everyone has a PVC already which is doubtful.

After completing your registration or data update online, there is an option for you to select where to collect your voter's card.

You can simply select the one nearest to your location (which is usually the nearest Local Government HQ).

Regardless of your disillusionment, it is still your right and responsibility to vote (or be voted for).

Has it occurred to you that the best leaders are those who are driven by a burning desire to make a positive change in their environment?

In your neighborhood, town, or state, you might actually be that leader for whom they have been praying.

Yes, it is that easy.

So, make sure to register, collect your PVC, and also vote in the elections.
