Cape Verde is a beautiful country for tourism.

They should stick to very strict entry requirements and this is not about Nigerians. As Nigeria gets sanitized too, we should be rigid with what goes in and out. The world should raise the standards against evil and selfish elements who destroy beautiful societies for person enrichment.

If only you knew the huge number of Nigerians who were living in Cape Verde before some incidents that happened in late 2005 that changed a whole lot of things. Even at that, there are still relatively a good number of Nigerians living there presently.

And don't allow some "beautiful photos from small island markets" to deceive you, because there have always been severe resource limitations there. A whole lot of Cape Verdeans live in some West African countries like Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, etc., "hustling."

Weren't some Nigerians jailed for drug trafficking in Cape verde not long ago.

Also, they detest Sub-Saharan Africans.

Cape Verde like Barbados is a five hundred thousand people country. The number of adults there will be less than 200 thousand or 150 thousand. The graduates among them maybe less than thirty thousand. Osun state is ten times more populated.
There will of course be Nigerians there but how many immigrants can such a country support and what industries are in the country to provide them jobs?

A bit of historical context for this younger generation.

The Cape Verde route was "opened" to many Nigerians from the mid-1980s into the early 1990s, with some seeing it as a possible transit point to Portugal. Being a small island nation with a tourism-based economy, job opportunities were very limited.
Unfortunately, many of our fellow Nigerian brothers engaged in activities that damaged the reputation of Nigerians to the point where carrying a Nigerian passport almost seems like a crime.

The lesson for this generation is simple: don't let clean streets, holiday pictures, or social media posts convince you to "Japa" to just any country. Do your homework. Understand the economy, immigration realities, employment opportunities, and long-term prospects before making such a life-changing decision.

Every country has its own realities, and there are no shortcuts to success abroad.

Nairaland, full of little kids. Nigerians that have japa to Cape Verde and taken their women so much they're now almost as xenophobic as SA about Nigerians! See below

Ok, you have a husband. We don hear. E no easy. Congratulations!
But why not take him along and show him off? grin
They had better do whatever is required to restrict the inflow of Nigerians into their country! Make immigration for Nigerians same as they have for sane climes and what will follow will be a deluge of economic migrants and those intent on using Cape Verde as a stepping stone to Europe or the USA!

Nigerians are generally docile, daft, tribalistic (South Africans can’t hold a candle to us when it comes to xenophobia) and believe in their country only to the extent that it helps further their personal or tribal interests! If i had my way, the ENTIRE EU and USA should ban entrance for all migrant Nigerians! Let them stay the fck at home and fix their country, and if they’re so daft and shortsighted to elect criminals, jihadists and those with baggage large enough to sink the Titanic, then they should be forced to stay in Nigeria and bear the consequences of their actions! Shikena!!
