I currently have a 4gb RAM stick ( DDR3L 1600MHz PC3L-12800S SO-DIMM) but each time I turn on my laptop it will show that its up but won't display anything. When I remove the RAM the laptop comes up easily.

So, I want to replace it with 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz PC3L-12800S SO-DIMM.

Can I get it?

There's nothing wrong with the RAM. Your laptop is not made to use it. You see that L, after the DDR3? It stands for "Low powered", or something like that. It's usually used in Ultra light laptops. It uses very low power to run the RAM. Your system probably uses the "normal" high powered one (just DDR3). So, when you start the laptop, the system sends a current that is normal to the system but higher for the DDR3L RAM. The RAM sees the power sent as too high and tries to save itself by blocking it and not allowing access. Without access to the RAM the system cannot display anything. Hence the blank screen you see.
When buying another check that it is suitable for your particular system.

or I may be wrong and the RAM is defective.

But I've ordered for another pc3l .

DDR3L and DDR3 RAM modules are similar because both uses the same slot type, and probably the same speeds. Only difference is in power draw or voltage. And, some systems can use both effectively because they have built in mechanisms to determine and provide the appropriate voltage needed for the particular RAM module installed. For example HP 4430s uses both. But most Ultra light laptops like the Dell 7420 only uses DDR3L.

By the way what is the make and model of the laptop in question?

Have you been using this ram before now?

get a clean handerchief and clean the metalic part of the ram that makes contact.

now remove the ram left in the pc and try the faulty ram, swap the ram slots if necessary and try just the ram that you have just cleaned.

if the pc comes on after cleaning and trying, leave the ram in the slot it has worked and clean the second one then replace, you are good to go.

if it does not work in any of the slots then it is safe to consider that the ram stick is bad

Lol.. How did you come to this conclusion when he didn't state the model of the laptop he is using and he didn't even say the laptop uses 2 RAM stick and probably one is faulty that's why when he takes out one it will boot up.

You're assuming it uses DDR3 when he didn't state anything of such

Gbam exactly what I'm saying.

This 1040 G1 uses 4gb on board RAM, so when you take out this particular one it will boot up.

It uses a one sided PC3L RAM, if you use the normal type it won't sit well on the ram slot.

This RAM is always kinda scarce but you'll definitely get it.
