The highest goal ever scored by Ronaldo in a single world cup is 4 and that was in 2018(all within the group stage). He scored 1, 1, 1 most of the time in the world cup, now he scored 3 in 2026 and no open play non-penalty knockout world cup goal for 7 good world cup. That's a very poor record in the world cup. Why make such unprolific person in world cup tournaments your major striker? That's where Portugal got it all wrong.

Whether he deserves it or not is a story for another time, I just wanted him to add world cup to his trophy gallery. For Portugal I doubt they will ever get the kind of spotlight they've been getting all these while again when Ronaldo finally retire today.

I have never watched a Portugal full match before today, and I must admit I really felt bad for Ronaldo, who need enemies when you have a team like this Portugal team.

It like they are playing to loose.

Ronaldo makes intelligent number 9 runs behind Spain defense only for the useless Portuguese to pass backwards or hold onto it long enough to loose it. undecided
