yemre:You get the picture precisely. I read a research paper like two years ago, PDF grabbed online, and I have been struggling to locate it again. That day I googled the main problems keeping the North downs and this research piece identified low entrepreneural capacity. I had not thought about it till then but it makes perfect sense. The core North must go back to basics and focus on ruthlessly developing a new generation of solutions providers through free and compulsory education for every child, male or female, abolishment of the almajiri system and hevaiky investing in the creation of human resources that can deliver solutions as optimally as possible One leader must step up, even if it won't be easy to achieve, to begin de-emphasizing the influence of religion in the lives of Northerners. They must move away from Islam being central towards everything in society and focus more on STEM I.e science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Kemal Mustafa Ataturk did this precisely. He is the father of modern Turkey because he realises what had to be done same as Awolowo knew what he had to do for his Yoruba people with free education etc. When will the North gain even one truly altruistic and talented leader who is reader to do the right thing, even at the risk of his life, to finally empower and emancipate Northerners? All we see are their leaders like Atiku who resides in Dubai and shows up in Nigeria every four years demanding the keys to Aso Rock. Look below to note Ataturk replaced Sharia with secular law and shut down religious schools deliberately to take Turkey into modernity via the creation of human resources capable of providing solutions rather than overtly focused on worship and faith. Ataturk moved to remove Sharia, as law, between 1924 and 1926. Over 100 years ago and Northern leaders are still clamouring for its greater application while Sultan of Sokoto wants it delivered in Yoruba land. What manner of backwardness is this considering the advanced thinking of Ataturk hundred years ago that made Turkey what it is today? till today, not a single Northerner with his vision and determined progressive focus. We cannot help the North if the North will not help herself. This is one things Nigerians do not understand when they are shouting Tinubu's name up and down..

Mrexcell:Don't be an ignoramus. People do not own oilwells. You only own an oilfield which may contain one or more oilwells. You get an OPL after a bidding process. Because you have an OPL doesn't mean you have a drop of oil. After you've paid for geophysical surveys, we'll drilling and completion, you obtain an OML that allows you to enjoy the fruits of your labour. In the meantime, you must have spent millions even billions of dollars before you see a dime. Watch how he would still use his ignorance to argue. |

mattb1:Yes. The bolded is 100% correct. The problems of the North are fairly obvious. So too the solutions for them. Yet no Northern leader is spearheading a solutions revolution as Awolowo did for the SW. I don't know when they will gain a leader who will move to banish the Almajiri system, initiate free and compulsory education for every child, repeal sharia to initate greater secularity across the North to begin de-emphasizing the influence of religion, that is the biggest problem of the North. Additionally they must initiate formal family planning as a strict policy so the practice of having 30 children you cannot raise can stop thus preventing the breeding of future menaces to society. The North must come into modernity. As simple as that. These are fairly simple and obvious initiatives and solutions that will transform the North. Yet is Atiku, Sultan of Sokoto and other Northern leaders insisting on them? No. It is control of Presidential power they are obsessed with while happy to subjugate their people. Yet the fraud Obi will go to the North and patronise them that "lack of opportunity" is the problem of the region. If the leaders of the region won't do right by their people, to provide them with the opportunity to be the best they can be as productive human resources, what does Obi believe he can achieve? |

TEYA:Stop decieving yourself. We are talking of today not the past..it is the core North currently opposed to State policing, regionalism, secession of any region, restructuring, full fiscal federalism etc. In fact Buhari even announced that those talking of restructuring, which PBAT is implementing currently, are naive and dangerous. I agree the SE are insincere and don't say what they mean and don't mean what they say but focus on today not on the past. Whatever the position of the North in the past, they are very unprogressive today. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/06/those-calling-for-restructuring-naive-dangerous-says-buhari/

You're really twisted in terms of logic. |

Kukutente23:I feel you bro. Honestly, this is the hopelessness in Naija's situation, but it is going to not be like this. Do you know why? Naija is a copy me place. Now, Dangote has opened their eyes, and it is even good that its Bola Tinubu there. Imagine what Amosu did to the man. Lol. So, they will all run to start their battery manufacturing companies. Lol. This time, it wont be export of crude lithium. And Baba at rhe top na professional tax collector. He is setting the designs there, so, it will happen. The issue is that Tinubu will do the job, but he will set his boys there. Like I tell people, Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso are all wasting their time. The one I pitied is Aregbesola. They know Tinubu na. Master tax collector. Master layout. He will grind it, and pull everything to himself. Lol. You just wait and see. Tinubu will pocket the whole of Nigeria very soon. And I am so happy this is happen cos by the time other regions realise this, it will be deep. So, they will either be slaves or part away. Me, I have dropped arguing. Im just observing Nigeria cos it is about to change. Why do you think IMF, world bank, and China are loading us loans. They can see how much tax this Baba will pull out in the next 20 years, and dem go tanga dey collect their interests. Hahaha hahaha. So, the way he is going is the right way if you ask me. Atiku will come and destroy it and set us back years again prioritising subsidy, feeding the northern poor masses....and investors will leave again. Infrastructure must be on ground first. Govt tax it. Govt should only have more of tax income than profit for running organisations. Govt ahould buy shares and not operate. This is why NNPC is failing. They even discussed Buhari when he had been initially advised well to not pay for the already negotiated shares in Dangote. Why? Cos they wan to keep chopping from NNPC. And Buhari sef we no sabi anything fell into the trap. This Baba now is calling Dangote that...guy, na me bail you out na when dem wan kill you. That previous share we agreed, you go still give naija na. Lol. And we go pay you. But Dangote too will do business na. He will hype the price.....lol. He is srill doing shakara. So, this one will work. You will hear like 5 companies come on board soon. Tinubu is just a selfish man, but he will do the job. I have written about these things long before. We wey sabi am well, don tell all of you say he must not come on.board ooo. If you let him, Naija don dey inside his pocket. Lol. |
