Guys, I need your help. For the past two days I've come back home to my Sako Solar Inverter beeping, not charging and displaying Error 51 which is an Overcharge or Surge Error. In fact, yesterday, I had to change the SPDs just to avoid any further complications. I noticed that once I put the SPDs off, and it running on the batteries it doesn't happen. What exactly is happening? The weather has been poor but it can't be the weather or external forces? What should I do? Does the inverter need repairs or just some code issue? Thank you. |

jFrankNorfleet:Hi I made a quick run based on what you post. Details below: 1. You daily energy consumption is around 20KWH assuming you run all appliances for 12hours with 3days autonomy. This make total battery storage bank higher and oversized. 2. I also did a quick run saving should you use generator and daily fuel purchase of 15000 for like 6-8hrs also assuming you have s 5kva generator to run these thing. see image 2. 3. Image 3 shows the full energy audit result based on your post and benchmark assumptions. 3. From the quote, there are still questions around the cable sizing which are not clear. This is soley for safety reason. Further more, you can view the full detail report with your exact quote below.https://www.solarspec.com.ng/p/95144d66709a44248fa572a93e62e358bcfbf3f28856331d Recommendations: I think you should look at the cost savings over a period of time. The major problems of going solar or off-grid is the initial capital. In most cases, the system pays for itself over a short period of time compared to the lower cost enjoyed from running a generator and all other future running cost that comes with owning a generator set. Lastly, everything i said here are based on assumptions, you might want to request for a proper energy audit from your installer and do not leave anything.

dollarnaira:then I'll go for infrared cooker to avoid pot selection.. hope the infrared no dey chop light too like the normal hot plate |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 6:24pm On Jul 07 |
Bryanluke:Are you aware that when you use Google to make researches, you end up gaining much more knowledge than you would get in here most times ? At end of the day, except you after using way less energy, you are free to use any kinda cooker whether infraRed, blueTooth, induction, etc |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by temizeee(m): 8:43pm On Jul 07 |
Bryanluke:Coming from someone that own and used infared and induction cooker, I will pick an induction cooker anyday anytime over an infared cooker. What i like most about induction cooker is the speed at which it cooks, It saves more energy than infared cooker…i got few set of stainless pot at a local store here that works with induction cooker at a ridiculous cheap price…4 sets for about 20k. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NSEstudent: 9:12pm On Jul 07 |
temizeee:Choosing induction cooker is a no-brainer. The only viable argument against it should be for someone who already has pots which have no magnetic base. Even then, it should be about budget, as it's no fault of the cooker. No one has talked about the heat infrared and other electric cookers generate while in use. There is little or no heat lost to the environment (kitchen) while using induction cookers as energy is directly transfered to the cookware (pot) via magnetic field. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 9:29pm On Jul 07 |
temizeee:if stainless pot work with. That's all I have then |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by temizeee(m): 9:58pm On Jul 07 |
Bryanluke:I took a small magnet or in my own case i took a common earpiece (most earpiece generally have small magnet inside) to the market, i simply stick the magnet to the body(and the base too) of the stainless steel pot and it STICKS or say they attracts each other, That’s when i know it will work with induction cooker because there are fake stainless steel pot out there that don’t stick, Kindly note that. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 6:43am On Jul 08 |
temizeee:I'll look for a magnet to test the one I have at home |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:42am On Jul 08 |
temizeee:That they don't stick doesn't necessarily mean they're FAKE |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by zenith4biz(m): 11:55am On Jul 08 |
bassdow:But are they going to work without being magnetic |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 12:29pm On Jul 08 |
zenith4biz:what I meant is not all stainless steel are magnetic. Wasn't even aware of using stainless steel till my aunt who took one of ma induction cookers pointed that out. She probably figured that out by mistake. Then after using a couple, we realized not all work. A Google searchfurther pointed out why. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by zenith4biz(m): 12:48pm On Jul 08 |
bassdow:Okay, mine only works with stainless steel pot that is magnetic, so I do test with magnet before any purchase |

Do jinko panels come in individual packs? I'm asking because someone said a pack usually contains more than one panel. |

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by justasitis: 5:28pm On Jul 08 |
temizeee:I will always prefer and recommend a good infrared cooker to induction cooker for good reasons. Meanwhile, can you share the pic of your own infrared cooker. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 5:41pm On Jul 08 |
leTrizzle:It comes in pallets. The number per pallet varies between 27 and 37, depending on the exact model and frame thickness. If you see Jinko panels packed in cartons singly or in twos, know that this was either done by the seller or it is definitely not the real deal.

Hello house, Please I am planning a 24v (3-3.5kva) and about 5kwh lithium system and would need advice on. 1. Best 5kwh lithium system I can get and cost 2. Good inverter to get. Either Hybrid or with MPPT 3. How panels and size Budget is 2m and dont know if it can go Honest advice will be appreciated |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:39pm On Jul 08 |
Pabodo:Since you are buying a 5kWh battery, I highly recommend getting a 48V system instead of a 24V one. The reason is simple: it's much easier to over-panel with 48V on the same charge controller capacity. Your budget may need to be increased slightly. For the battery, I’d recommend a Deye, Deriy, or Valto or Mr Reed's battery. For the inverter, I’d recommend a Growatt-either a 5kVA or 6kVA model. 4 to 6nos of between 500-620w panels should do the job. |

Are Fouani store solar equipments trusted here. Their Deye battery and inverter? Anyone has had a bad experience with them? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Stormyweather(m): 8:06pm On Jul 08 |
Good evening Solar gurus in the house please I have a question. If someone installs a 6kva inverter, some panels and some batteries, can a 5.5,KVA generator recharge the solar? Because the installer is saying it can't |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by brightk(m): 8:09pm On Jul 08 |
Stormyweather:This will depend on your charging current and what ever appliance u will be running while charging.. lets say u are charging @ 30a, you are pulling roughly 1kw+ from your gen. You can as well power another 1.5k-2kw load on the same gen. You can still increase your charging current while running a lesser load and vice versa. Note ur inveter should be switched off at this point. Just be careful not to abuse ur gen power..Another thing is your gen frequency should match your inveter frequency requirement |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by AyobamiOluwole: 9:40pm On Jul 08 |
Stormyweather:To have a smooth experience go for a higher rated Gen. But if you have the Gen already, set the right current and turn off almost everything in your house while charging your battery. For example if you are charging at 30amps and 28volts it’s roughly 1kwh draw from your Generator per hour. But imagine you turn on all your load at the same time while you are charging your system, your gen go just dey off. Perhaps your installer have considered all those factors and your setup and came to that conclusion that it won’t work. |
