The OP is an absolute idiot. Whats with the need to always project negativity with everything concerning Nigeria? From the article posted, it wasn't outrightly shut down. They just asked to wait till ICPC concludes it's investigation on it which sounds reasonable. The senate is not a primary investigative body and it's the reports from the investigative bodies they'll use in their probe. |

This is a big shame and taint to the Nigerian government in general. They don’t even have any iota of shame! Gradually, I being forced to accept that His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) is part of the corruption! He can’t even fire Gbajabiamila and just staring like a portrait in the government house. |

AngelSlay:Lol, na now you wake up. Bro Nigerians will continue to be suppressed because they allowed it, since they are divided on tribal lines and religion. The innocent folks not too involved will be caught up in their web of stupid, and nothing will be done because they have been made to look weak. If this group of politicians win next election, I don’t know how to explain it. Those clamoring to take power are not different. Sad reality! |

HacheNoire:That is why it is hard to vouch for them. They all lack integrity, Nigeria politicians hate the people they govern. Because what is going on in the country is pure madness! |

@OP i dislike ALL Nigerian politicians and political parties equally but beginning your post with the highlighted section of the screenshot below is completely wrong and incredibly unprofessional. Next time, post the news story and log off rather than posting your personal opinion on the story. Stop trying to lead the reader to follow your line of thought rather than allowing them to form their own views about the news story on their own accord. Thank you

This is the most corrupt Nigerian government in history. You mean senate can't perform their own independent investigation and inquiry into how they passed the budget of a supposed none existing agency? |

Well, what I see here is avoiding a parallel investigation |
| Re: Senate Kills Motion Seeking Probe Into ₦1.3Billion PFIPC 2026 Budget by nairalanda1(m): 9:16am On Jul 09 |
truthera:Dude, in your story, here is the real reason why the senate is not intervening However, the Senate declined to entertain debate on the motion. What you are doing makes you no different from the apc supporters, you know. You should not lie for likes. If you like, abuse me, but what you did was not right. And yeah, I'm voting out APC and voting for obi next year..before you start. |
| Re: Senate Kills Motion Seeking Probe Into ₦1.3Billion PFIPC 2026 Budget by nairalanda1(m): 9:18am On Jul 09 |
HacheNoire:Correct. But as the report says, ICPC Is already investigating, so a senate investigation is probably parallel work. Yes, gbajamilia should resign, because he is involved, maybe even tinubu should resign, but at the end, the reaosn for senate not investigating is that ICPC Is on the job. Let's see if they are serious |

| Re: Senate Kills Motion Seeking Probe Into ₦1.3Billion PFIPC 2026 Budget by nairalanda1(m): 9:20am On Jul 09 |
deanoffaculty:True words, but that's not why the Senate is not investigating. Senate is not investigating because presidency has directed ICPC to investigate. Whether ICPC will do a good job, expesically since it is headed by a tinubu appointee is another matter. |
| Re: Senate Kills Motion Seeking Probe Into ₦1.3Billion PFIPC 2026 Budget by nairalanda1(m): 9:21am On Jul 09 |
AngelSlay:Yes, but all this wrong story is unnexessary, because the reason why Senate is not investigating is because ICPC has been asked to investigate. |
| Re: Senate Kills Motion Seeking Probe Into ₦1.3Billion PFIPC 2026 Budget by nairalanda1(m): 9:22am On Jul 09 |
edogu:True that, but ICPC is investigating, which is why senate is not investigating. It is whether ICPC would do a good enough job, that one na the matter, but for now, senate is not investigating because duplication of work may result if they do. And that means wasting money. |

| Re: Senate Kills Motion Seeking Probe Into ₦1.3Billion PFIPC 2026 Budget by nairalanda1(m): 9:30am On Jul 09 |
In my opinion, most of the people on this site do not like reading or want to read. For the record, in my opinion, the chief of staff of the president should resign, and I suspect that the investigation would die a natural death. After all we have a budget that was padded to the brim, and no one is doing anything about it. But the real reason why senate is not investigating is because ICPC is already investigating. Once ICPC Is on the case, senate does not need to come in and be doing a job that ICPC Is already doing. In a way, though, senate may want to look at the approval process, expesially since some of its own may have been involved in the scam, but then again they are not as neutral as they seem to be. Also, the ICPC May issue summons to senators, who will refuse to respond, and then the whole investigation dies a natural death. Which is what I expect it to be...investigation dies a natural death. But the reason, again for the senate not investigating is not to cover up anything, but to avoid duplication. ICPC is already on the job, it is in theory a neutral body and the senate isn't, so at the end, let's see whether ICPC would do a good enough job. Whenter they will is another matter. (EFCC isn't on the case, I daresay, because the chap at the center was photographed with the EFCC boss). The OP basically lied about the reason why the senate was not investigating. We all bash government propagandaists here, but then people come and behave like the government propagandaists. Then when we vote out APC we wonder why things are not changing. |

"Jibrin informed lawmakers that President Bola Tinubu had directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the disputed budget allocation." Must we always be sentimental in all our judgement. The senate only 'refrained' from investigating the matter for now because the president has already asked ICPC to investigate it. I don't see how that amounts to 'killing' a motion seeking any probe. |
