Kola Olawuyi's Widow, Abimbola, Dies 19 Years After Veteran Broadcaster's Passing

Abimbola Olawuyi, the Ogbomoso-born widow of late investigative broadcaster and journalist, Kola Olawuyi, has died after a brief illness.

Family sources said Abimbola passed away on Monday morning, nearly 19 years after the death of her husband, whose pioneering work in investigative broadcasting made him one of the most respected media personalities in Southwest Nigeria.

A member of the Olawuyi family, who confirmed the development, said she died peacefully after a brief illness.

Her death marks another tragic chapter for the Olawuyi family, which has continued to mourn the loss of the renowned broadcaster since his passing.

Following Kola Olawuyi's death, Abimbola stayed away from the public spotlight, devoting herself to raising their four children and keeping the family together despite the challenges that followed the loss of her husband.

Described by relatives as the pillar of the family, she reportedly shouldered the responsibilities left behind by the late journalist with remarkable resilience and unwavering commitment.

"Abimbola has been a pillar of strength for the family. Her death is really painful. She has been taking care of the family and the four children left by her husband, Kola Olawuyi, and now the children are orphans. Only God knows what lies ahead for them," a family source said.

Her passing has thrown relatives, friends, and well-wishers into mourning, with many remembering her commitment to preserving the legacy of her late husband while ensuring the welfare and upbringing of their children.

The family said burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

Late Kola Olawuyi remains widely regarded as one of the pioneers of investigative broadcasting in Southwest Nigeria. Through his popular radio and television programmes, Iriri Aye and Nnkan Nbe, he exposed criminal activities, ritual killings, fraud, and other social vices, earning widespread respect for his fearless journalism and unwavering commitment to justice.

Hmmm, it is well. So, it has already been 19 years since Kolawole Oluwuyi died. I remember how the late T. B. Joshua was accused of being responsible for his death. Kolawole had fiercely criticised the Synagogue Church, pointed fingers at the Prophet, and described him as diabolical.

It's not worth the risks. Nigerians also don't appreciate facts, they love their emotions and gossip. Even when you show them the facts, they will deny it and change the topic.

I wonder how old the youngest is.

After 19 years, all should either be graduates or at least 3 of them

I am certain their fathers goodwill will assist them. It should open doors for them.
