If you buy the cheapo. Have been using mine for more than 4 years now with no issue.

Buy a good brand, don't cheap out and you are good.

Recently upgraded mine this year. Same result.

Don't just buy cheaply made one.

The pot cover of my recent purchase weighs 1.62kg
the one I bought for 7500 in 2021 is still serving me too. Don't just open the pot will the pressure is high... It's don't rocket science.

na with abeg, he stated 15k before..
So with that 32a it'll cut off immediately there's heavy voltage from thunder strikes on the panel
let's be real no breaker is protecting anything from a lightening strick.. The power surge from the lightening will easily bypass the breaker and continue on its journey. The best protection is to get a quality lightening catcher or just physically disconnect the PV wirer from the CCor inverter. No let anybody whine you.

Honestly. I think it's high time inverters are designed to have a plug in system from PV as in most power stations.

So Incase of thunderstorm, just turn off pv breaker and unplug from inverter, that way your system is protected even against direct strikes.

Dami sells the 6kva for circa 550k
I believe you will also get a better price for the protection boxes.
Bread currently sells 590w panel for 116-118k in Lagos.
You have no business with 5kwh batteries

I'd run installation for my gamehouse within the next 2-3 weeks

Pls house I need you to tell me what's wrong with this quote given by my prospective installer. Focus less on the price and more on if the setup will be okay for the gamehouse and how to prevent issues with the setup

These are what the gamehouse would comprise

Lg LCD 32 inches TV 140w *2

When it comes to kitchen safety, structural integrity matters more than user error. Most pressure cooker accidents don't happen because someone tries to open the pot while the steam pressure is still high; rather, they occur because the pot disintegrates during use. There are also safety locks to prevent you from opening them under pressure.

However, poorly manufactured builds pose a significantly higher risk of catastrophic failure. The metal simply fatigues, or a faulty pressure release valve fails to vent, turning a badly made pot into a ticking time bomb.

These same poorly manufactured builds and the devastating effects of pressure caused the implosion of the Titan submersible, which killed five people in 2023.

As you rightly pointed out, it's not rocket science, just thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

which one is lightning catcher, how do one disconnect the wire from the controller if not at home.. that can't work

Good evening Solar gurus in the house please I have a question. If someone installs a 6kva inverter, some panels and some batteries, can a 5.5,KVA generator recharge the solar? Because the installer is saying it can't
5.5kva is SMALLer than 6KVA. Add the fact that a lot of Generators have inflated ratings.

But then again, if your inverter are those with inflated ratings, it just might work. Doesn't hurt trying it out for a couple of minutes or seconds and take things from there.

Life would have been much easier had you stated the inverter's model and brand + generator brand and Model BUT as usual, una prefer we force basic details out of una while trying to be of help.
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:55am On Jul 09

Since you are buying a 5kWh battery, I highly recommend getting a 48V system instead of a 24V one. The reason is simple: it's much easier to over-panel with 48V on the same charge controller capacity.

Your budget may need to be increased slightly.

For the battery, I’d recommend a Deye, Deriy, or Valto or Mr Reed's battery. For the inverter, I’d recommend a Growatt-either a 5kVA or 6kVA model.

4 to 6nos of between 500-620w panels should do the job.
@Pabodo, you've gotten a good enough response BUT still let me chip in some.

Chances are, this person might not wanna go 48v possibly due to financial constraints BUT I would point out if He/She decides to buy any growatt inverter, especially those around 3kva/3.5kva, they should be careful as there are those that really can't be paneled in series much. Just 2pcs of anything above 550w in series is already too much for them hence you would be forced to combine Series + parallel configurations.

Also a 24v 5kwh (about 205AH) or 48v 5kwh (about 105AH) battery appears excessively small to me except mayBe the load really is small both now and in nearest future. For such battery capacity, no need going for the likes of DeYe, or Deriy; Just buy from the likes of mrReed and Valto.

As for solar panels, if buying brand new (with recent prices, I now default to recommending brand new), I often suggest between 620w to max 630w. Buying anything less than 600w seems to me a waste of money.

As per whether to buy Hybrid inverter vs standAlone inverter + external charge controller, going by the very limited budget, would suggest buying a good Hybrid (All-in-One) inverter though I often prefer the standAlone inverters.

Also when buying lithium based batteries, they should try to buy those that comes with communication cable as some inverters misbehaves or makes life somewhat difficult when trying to configure the battery in a dumb manner

From your fault description above, the bold line is not quite clear to me can you share the pic of the said SPDs for better clarity.
I think it usually begins towards the evening period. In the morning, it is fine but once I return from work, around 3-4, I notice the blink again.

On Tuesday, I switched off the inverter, surge protectors and supply and put it back on, and it didn't happen again. But yesterday I did same but it didn't work until I switched off the SPDs and it ran smoothly and then I switched it back on two hours later.

To have a smooth experience go for a higher rated Gen. But if you have the Gen already, set the right current and turn off almost everything in your house while charging your battery.

For example if you are charging at 30amps and 28volts it’s roughly 1kwh draw from your Generator per hour. But imagine you turn on all your load at the same time while you are charging your system, your gen go just dey off.

Perhaps your installer have considered all those factors and your setup and came to that conclusion that it won’t work.
Thank you for your response

Hi Professionals in the house,
These are the specification labels of what I'm starting my solar system with pending when I would upgrade. Please help to analyse and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This will depend on your charging current and what ever appliance u will be running while charging.. lets say u are charging @ 30a, you are pulling roughly 1kw+ from your gen. You can as well power another 1.5k-2kw load on the same gen. You can still increase your charging current while running a lesser load and vice versa. Note ur inveter should be switched off at this point. Just be careful not to abuse ur gen power..Another thing is your gen frequency should match your inveter frequency requirement
Thank you for your response

I think it has to do with very low PV input from your solar panels that’s causing the error on the inverter. Maybe your solar panels are inadequate if not by 3-4pm, there will still be sunlight and the PV from the panels should be able to keep the inverter operating properly. What’s your inverter capacity and how many solar panels and their wattages.

Guys, I don’t understand my installer, but I don’t want to be too forward since it’s not my area of expertise.

I got the Jinko 585-watt panel to complement the single 535-watt I installed for my Haisic 1.5kVA inverter because I also use grid to charge it. Now the installer is telling me it can’t work directly and that I’ll have to buy an MPPT for it to work.
Even before I got the 585 watt, I asked several people here and they said I could install it, but it might not be effective. However, this installer is telling me my inverter is too small and that it can’t accept any extra panel without an MPPT controller of 100A. Meanwhile this is the same guy that installed my setup initially.

The picture of the panel & inverter is below.

This both will almost hit 100v and your inverter is cap at 100v I have once connected 46x3 to felicity 60a cc and in the afternoon it stated showing error with that their red blinking light... You might be luck it never move over the 100v bur that will be you taking da risk.

well it depends on the voc of the first panel…this your new panel shows 52v,,assuming your old panel is 40v then it will be 92v connected in series…it’s within the 100v max of your inverter..However it’s still not advisable cause of voltage spike…safety factor of 1.25 should be considered which will be 1.25*92v = 115v which is above what your inverter can take…

Also if your old panel is 50-52v,it still won’t work…Either was,,listen to ur installer

Your installer is very correct…You need an Mppt cc but I think 100a is too much except you plan to increase your pv array in the future…60ams will do the work….
