Fact is that all Nigerians say the want a better nation but their actions show many are lawless, unscrupulous and comfortable with how things are.

How can anyone who respects the rule of law and the decision of a competent Court of law be campaigning for Kanu's release after his recent criminal conviction?

Why has not even a single one of them done same for Ekpa in Finland? I.e appeal he be freed ?

IPOB and Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) are 2 different groups, while Kanu is the leader of IPOB, Simon Ekpa is the leader of BRGIE. It is glaring that you are the hypocrite here because Nnamdi Kanu did not supervise any killing or own up to any killing but Simon Ekpa did and boasted about the killings done by his autopilot men through his social media posts. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has directed all its members, supporters, and coordinators worldwide to compulsorily participate in its weekly "Tweet Tuesday" campaign, describing the social media exercise as a strategic tool for the group's agitation for the restoration of Biafra and the release of its imprisoned leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The directive was contained in an internal memo dated Monday, July 6, 2026, and signed by the group's spokesperson, Emma Powerful.

According to the memo, IPOB declared that participation in the campaign every Tuesday is no longer optional but mandatory for all members across the world.

IPOB claimed that the initiative was originally introduced by Kanu as a digital mobilisation strategy that allegedly became so effective that it contributed to the Nigerian government's decision to suspend Twitter's operations in the country in 2021.

The group alleged that the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari banned the platform because it enabled Kanu's account to remain active while Buhari's account faced sanctions.

IPOB further claimed that the previous Directorate of State leadership abandoned the campaign after Kanu's arrest and transfer to Nigeria, creating a vacuum that it claimed allowed "anti-Biafra elements" to dominate online conversations.

"The era of abandonment ends today," the IPOB spokesperson stated.

IPOB said the renewed campaign comes as Kanu's appeal at the Abuja Court of Appeal draws closer, insisting that social media mobilisation would be central to its advocacy efforts.

Under the new directive, IPOB instructed members to use every Tuesday to campaign for Kanu's "immediate and unconditional release," advocate for the restoration of the Sovereign State of Biafra, and challenge "false and malicious narratives" against IPOB, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), and the Biafra movement.

IPOB urged its supporters to publish coordinated messages, use relevant hashtags, tag influential social media accounts, and maintain what it described as disciplined messaging.

"This is not optional. It is a collective duty and a strategic weapon in our non-violent struggle," Powerful stated.

IPOB also called on members to intensify online advocacy ahead of Kanu's appeal proceedings, arguing that sustained international attention could increase pressure regarding his case.

Kanu is serving life imprisonment at Sokoto Maximum Prison following his conviction by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja in November 2025 on terrorism-related charges filed by the Nigerian government.

The IPOB leader and his supporters have consistently denied the allegations, while IPOB maintains that his detention is unlawful and continues to demand his unconditional release.

The Nigerian government, however, insists that Kanu’s prosecution and imprisonment were in accordance with the law.

I thought you people said Nigeria will burn if Nnamdi Kanu is jailed. He has been in jail in the sweltering heat of a Sokoto correctional facility since last year and nothing has happened except sojourn to Sokoto for photo ops!!!
