To tell how shallow this government is. What can 50k be able to solve in this economy? Is not even enough for running cost in a business for an average akara, corn roasters. (Them done see Una finish) |

Lol... Since all the hardworking citizens have pushed back on the way many of these folks went about ridiculing their hustle, you guys are now the ones doing damage control. You guys are now opening threads and creating content claiming you are not against the so-called akara sellers because more and more people are expressing disdain about the backlash of someone's honest and practical suggestion. Imagine a bank MD, for example, whose mother went through a lot of stress to be sent to school, reading how people are ridiculing his mother's profession. Such a person may not talk but will take it personally. Lamba king people will always create enemies for him and themselves sha. |

A nation cannot continue to measure progress by how creatively its citizens cope with suffering. This line make sense..... |

Angelfrost:He’s not and he will never be, but the issue is he and his gullible brainwashed supporters are the ones that always make unnecessary noise out of every issues. What the First Lady talked about is what microeconomics means in Economics. No country survives without the impact of that sector yet the empty barrels keep wailing. For those that know where the country was coming from in the last few decades, where it is currently and where it’s going, they know this government is working but for the shallow minded ones, it will be difficult to see. |

The real issue is that Nigerians are tired of being told to manage hardship while those in power continue to live comfortably.Wrong! They're rather living LAVISHLY & WASTEFULLY !!! |

Laple0541:Guy, Peter Obi and his followers are less than 8% of the average Nigerian populace. Are you saying over 80% of Nigerians living and breathing in this nation are solidly behind the reforms of Tinubu and his gang?!! ...Cos the evidence on ground absolutely and clearly states otherwise. So, hiding behind Obi and his raucous followers or constantly spotlighting them won't erode the reality on ground. If the government is truly working, no amount of noise from any opposition can hide or mask the results. |

correctguy101:You have made your points and this shows you really understand what mama tinubu said. But because you guys purposely don't want to accept or tend to be mischievous you continue dragging her. All what you mentioned are another category of sets of people. Is not those sets mama were referring to or handlings. This made your argument shallow. There is no time we don't have the poor and all the categories and there is no amount you cannot start business with. |

Between his time nd now .... Can we compare cost of living What it takes our parent to raise us, is it what we are spending now to raise our kids, my friend son in crenche for our local area here ... Pay 40k per month on a 2yr old baby please work to that akara seller in your area, sit with her ask her mama howfar ? But PO wasn't weaponising poverty when he was boasting about the 10k he gave market women and how appreciative they were? The point here is that you cannot praise PO and nail Remi for something that we know they all do. Besides, that 50k is a grant- a bailout cash that will make the difference for some people and no matter what you wanted to say about it, it is going to safe some from hunger for days. |

There are many Sunday Dare in Nigeria who did odd jobs. They do not pray to go back to those jobs, but they will also not encourage any lazy person who wants handouts when she/he could also have started with selling akara. Only lazy people scam or wait for frequent handouts. donself9: |

DEMOO07:The bolded is true. But all these things are linked. You can't mention one and leave the other. I am on ground experiencing these things, they're not. I've had a sister I bought sewing machine for harassed to pay some dubious tax because she went to buy at alaba market. She was held down until she complied. I've seen POS operators who stand to do their business pay tax and whatnot, even hawkers. So I kid you not, these women would still share whatever profits made with their thugs they permitted to punish their people they claim to be helping. I mentioned all these as that's the reality on ground. As per the first lady's talk, I personally have contradictory views on it as I started my own business with 30k back in the day. That's in 2010 or thereabouts. That same amount won't get you much today in my line of business. My worry also rests on their usual character of inflating such give aways and calling them achievement. The government should not just dish out funds like that but be inclusive in making sure things are done with the funds. But because they want to use that as an excuse to move more funds, they wouldn't care how the matter later ends. Plus, in their circles, you sure say any of them go agree to receive 50k? This people are buying houses and cars for their underlings. Yet they tell everyone else the country is poor. What happened to not spending unnecessarily and cutting down on expenditure to forward more productive issues that'll help the economy? That is my problem with it all... Otherwise, doing akara business and others, wetin bad for there? Without those below, you think there'll be any above? Abegi, I no talk again on this matter. |

Odewaleadesoye:This is the kind of clamoring we asking for. You very apt on this. I will be blunt with you, never has Nigeria had it so bad. Every single institution is compromised and bad. Everything is politicized and some people defend nonsense. For those supporting this wicked government, assenting to its corrupt and biased practices, you only setting precedence that only takes Nigeria lower and backwards. The courts have gone berserk, security now play politics, education now selective, people can't farm anymore... it is appalling Anyway, back to you comment, you have said it rightly but more importantly, that party, that man need to leave Aso rock else, nothing changes and Nigeria will be under this man servitude |

Fujiyama:If you are overtly fixated on the giver of the advice rather than the advice itself, you most likely will repeatedly get into some hot water. I don't know if you are a Christian, but just imagine if Balaam had ignored his donkey's admonition in the Bible story as captured in Numbers 22. Learn to reject bad advice because it is bad and not because of who gave it. Likewise, learn to accept good advice because it is true and not because you like the person who said it. True wisdom weighs ideas, not personalities. Even a broken clock tells the correct time twice a day. |

Reptyle:^^^ No fixation here. We are just calling a spade a spade Reptyle:^^^ I don't have a problem with Madam Tinubu's advice. Some of it has merit. But accepting her advice does not preclude an honest assessment of who she is. We can agree that some of what she said is true...and we can also agree that she has a history of anti-people speech and conduct. Two things can be true at the same time. What she said in parliament (when Adeyemi urged Buhari to do his job) will forever stand against her. Her comments in the interview below speak volumes (note how she personalizes the 'philanthropy'). There is zero appreciation of the efforts of others. ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08FH5_1Y3wc?si=J9WbdddW_d_GzjMv "We went to Ekiti recently, I empowered two thousand. Then I went to Benue, I did another two thousand." "I have given and I keep giving". "I remember giving for TB - when I heard there is so much TB cases, I gave two billion. To breast cancer, I gave a billion. To food malnutrition, I gave half a billion." All this 'giving' - is it from her purse or it from an NGO? Donations? Or is it from the government? |

Odewaleadesoye: Yeah they do That's why they vote for ppl who promise handouts They want stable electricity so businesses can grow. No they don't If they did they would've gotten it long ago They want affordable food. Premium lies They want security so farmers can return to their farms. Story They want jobs that pay decent wages. Nah They want access to credit with reasonable terms. That's exactly what you're saying Nobody is saying people should be ashamed of humble beginnings. Why Stop making hardship look normal. It is normal Read your Bible well Stop treating survival as success. Survival is success Build an economy where people sell akara because they choose to, not because they have no other option. What's stopping you from building said economy A nation cannot continue to measure progress by how creatively its citizens cope with suffering. Actually if can The true measure of progress is how many people no longer have to struggle just to survive. |
