Earlier today, I accompanied the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, CON, as he commissioned the Ogbo Central Smart School in Ipupe, Ubakala, Umuahia South LGA. This is the first of 20 Smart Schools to be delivered across the 17 Local Government Areas and three senatorial districts of Abia State.

The future belongs to societies that invest in knowledge, innovation and technology. That is why we are transforming public education into a technology-driven system that prepares our children not just to earn certificates, but to compete, innovate and lead in a rapidly changing world.

Each Smart School is equipped with interactive learning boards, tablets for pupils, trained teachers, a sick bay, modern security systems and a learning environment that promotes creativity, excellence and character.

Yesterday, we launched the Manufacturing Technology (Manu-Tech) University Innovation Pod (UniPod) at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, with the support of the Federal Government, TETFund and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Today, we commissioned a Smart School. Together, these investments reaffirm our commitment to building human capital as the engine of sustainable economic growth.

We continue to dedicate 20% of our annual budget to education through improved infrastructure, teacher recruitment and retraining, and our policy of free and compulsory basic education. Every child in Abia deserves the opportunity to dream, excel and succeed.

I urge parents, guardians, community and religious leaders to join us in shaping children of character and protecting these public assets. Anyone found vandalising school infrastructure or extorting pupils or parents will face the full weight of the law.

I thank the Honourable Minister for honouring us with his presence, and commend the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Goodluck Chinedu Ubochi, and his team for their dedication to this transformative project.

Tomorrow is the reward for the investments we make today, and together, we are building a brighter future for every Abia child.

My next question was, "list the percentage amounts of the budget that each state in Nigeria dedicates to education", but I will list only the top tier so you yourself can go find where each state is.

Please if you bother, do tell where you find my own embarrassing Osun State by asking "what percentage of Osun State budget is dedicated to education?" You'll see we must improve!

Please is Ebonyi state social media aides to the governor, aware of all this goodies happening in Enugu,Abia and Anambra states about it's annual budgets for education, so as to inform the governor of Ebonyi state to do something great in education.

He should extend the same gesture to Amuzukwu Girls' Secondary School, as well as the Nursery and Primary School opposite it.

Kudos to the government for the recent recruitment of teachers. I noticed that many teachers in private schools have left their jobs to take up the new appointments. At least they now have the assurance of better salaries and a pension when they eventually retire.

Human capital development from an early stage right from primary school should be prioritised. Developing the capacity of individuals to solve problems and challenges globally whether in technology,ICT, science, e-commerce,trade etc.
Governors like Alex should model a parallel education platform to train indigenous people of the state that would run parrarel to the educational system from primary,secondary and higher education.

Thanks to Tinubu removing the subsidy, states have more money to do more.
Obi was Governor for 8 years and he could not build one single school from scratch.
But he has the foresight to invest state money into a brewery in which himself and his family had financial interest.

The problem is maintenance . A new Government comes and does something entirely different or cuts funding and little by little the structures start deteriorating and equipment vandalised. A case study is the model schools built by |RT. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi in Rivers State, these schools are shadow of themselves today despite rivers been a oil rich state.

Alex Otti should better protect all these after his tenure by backing someone who is capable to continue his good works in the state. If he fails to do that, all these will be wipe out under any administration with no insights. Let them call it Godfatherism as long as you will always have good intentions towards your people It’s justified.

Good let other Governors invest in their people with all the money that they are receiving from Abuja.
Invest the windfall from the subsidy removal into capital projects that will have long term effects on your people for generations to come.
That's what good governance should be about not hoping to buy fuel for N50 while states and federal govt are struggling just to pay salaries, schools are crumbling, no good roads and list goes on.

This smart school will expose the nonsense Enugu state government is hyping and calling smart school.

Some of you are so dumb..... celebrating mediocrity, this is what local government chairmen are doing in Lagos.

Tolu school complex which comprises of 36 schools were converted to smart school by a local government chairman and new 21 football pitches built.

Iworo-Ajido, Badagry smart school was build from scratch by a local government chairman in badagry, you people should stop this your mediocre attitude.

What was shown in this post is nothing close to what is known as a smart school.

Some private schools own by ordinary Nigeria is even better than this thing you people call smart school.

While I agree that smart isn't really what the pictures posted by the OP represent, I disagree with you on your association of smart with the giving of smart tabs to the students.

Smarts isn't about giving the students electronics to work with, although the teachers could greatly benefit from having electronics to help them better manage their work. Smart is about providing students with a comfortable and intelligent environment where they can learn their lessons. Think of how you have to spend 8 hours of your life at work and all.

I will come back in 6 years to see if this schools will still be "smart".
Because, this was how Peter Obi and Rotimi Ameachi were building their own version of smart schools filled with computers in Anambra and Rivers State respectively. But today, the story is no more the same. All those computers have evaporated into thin air. 😎
