He told us everything they said to him and the circumstances that surrounded the even. The fact that other non Igbo player succeeded there does not erase the fact that he experienced tribalism at Rangers. 1Alex: |

owobokiri:You had to bring Taribo West into the gist to prove nothing! Tribalism is a problem in Nigeria whether you like it or not. It is not peculiar to the south east alone. Every region of Nigeria is suffering from it! |

Idaytesj29:No one can dismiss a person's personal experience if that's what happened to him. But one individual's account is not enough to conclude that Rangers as a club is institutionally tribalistic. The club has had many non-Igbo players who not only played there but became key players, captains, fan favourites, and won trophies. That doesn't prove tribalism never occurred, but it does show that ethnicity alone has not prevented non-Igbo players from succeeding at Rangers. The fair position is to judge each allegation on its evidence, not to generalize an entire club based on a single testimony. |

Mrchippychappy:Nigeria and Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon, has brought to an end the quest to have access to potable water for the people of Obagaji Agatu in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State. The Nigeria international drilled three boreholes in the community where his father hails from. A native of Benue State but has spent the best part of his life in Kaduna State, Simon still considered it a priority to remember the people from the place of his origin, a gesture that has earned him praises and commendations from the Head of the community Chief James Ocheche. |

Tribalism cuts across all tribes in Nigeria and we must all join hands to put it to an end. Time to value competency and merit over favoritism and tribalism |

1Alex:Tribalism is a real problem and Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas are the ones that championed it. Living in denial will not change anything. |

Hmmmm....very disturbing and troubling if true from Enugu rangers! An investigation should be conducted to confirm or refute his assertions! The only issue with his claim is that during that 2012 that he wasn't taken because he was labelled an 'onye Hausa',same rangers bought a young striker Alhaji Gero from Kano state Same rangers had other northern players in the team:Haliru Umar,Sabi sanusi and adamu mohammed before purchasing Salisu Abdullahi Gero. So I am finding it hard to believe such assertions without a single proof. But it's a strong allegation that should be looked into! |

owobokiri:he talks about his own experience, why can't we understand people's personal opinion based on their experience? He is not generalizing it, he only talks about why the club rejected him then |

owobokiri:It's doesn't negate the fact that at the time he Moses Simon had issues simply because he wasn't Igbo. He is from the North Central if I do believe. |

Enugu Rangers had never descend low to anything close to tribalism since it were created but just lite it's European counterparts it encourage good representation of indigenous players from Enugu. Here are breakdown of no Igbo players signed up for rangers both currently and ex signees. Current non-Igbo players (2025/26–2026 squad) Based on the current squad, identifiable non-Igbo players include: Lucky Jimoh – Goalkeeper (Yoruba, Kwara State) Abdullateef Ishola – Goalkeeper (Yoruba) Godwin Asiriuwa – Midfielder (Edo) There are also a few players whose names do not clearly indicate Igbo origin, but their ethnic backgrounds are not publicly documented, so it would be speculative to classify them. Notable non-Igbo players who have played for Rangers Some well-known examples include: Christian Pyagbara – Bayelsa (Ijaw) – Striker Godwin Obaje – Benue (Idoma) – Striker and league top scorer Tope Olusesi – Ogun (Yoruba) – Midfielder Osas Okoro – Edo – Winger Ayo Saka – Ogun (Yoruba) – Defender Bashir Usman – Northern Nigeria – Midfielder Kabiru Balogun – Northern Nigeria – Defender Ismaila Gata – Plateau (Berom) – Forward. Rangers has also had players from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, Benue, Plateau, Bayelsa, and Yoruba-speaking states at various times, especially since the professional league era began in the 1990s. Historically, while Rangers was founded as a symbol of post-civil-war Igbo resilience, the club has recruited on merit and has featured successful non-Igbo players for decades. Moses Simon should bury his head in shame for trying to blackmail the Igbos despite being supported mostly by Igbos during his time in the super eagles. |

1Alex:You are making a daft comparison because he clearly started he Moses Simon suffered discrimination, he is not addressing Rangers in 2026 I'm assuming this was over 10 years ago. So superimposing events from different periods over each other is really daft. |

See these hediot... Every useless entity trying to cashout with Igbo.... Imagine the scaliwag.... Foolish, why rush to the media to make your empty noise? Igbos experience these things in different Yoruba states, Akwaibom, Rivers and others... What's the noise from this dirty thing for? |

Flangelo12:Pain who?. I'm i a footballer? contesting with Moses? He wasn't successful in Rangers and he's blaming it on Tribalism, in his words. he didn't make it rangers because he wasn't Igbo. I just proved his point to you, the names up there were all Igbos that played for Rangers.. Olise, Salah and KDB didn't make it in Chelsea because they're not English.. Have a good day |

No one is saying his story qualifies Rangers of Enugu as a tribalistic club. But seeing pro SE comments trying to downplay his experience or say he is not right or that he lied is equally unacceptable. Apart from the investigation that concerned parties can launch, which I wonder what that would achieve now, Moses Simon is successful now and would not risk his brand name and reputation by telling lies about his experience at Rangers. What the outcry of the people is about is that, sports should not be a place where tribalism will thrive, do we want to kill Nigeria Youths? One of the few places where their talent alone can make them someone without having to know any big man is football. It would be bad and retrogressive to allow Tribalism in such youth dominated sector. 1Alex: |

For your mind you are good, I hope you are playing in real Madrid like mbappe. Mediocre player that can't qualify Nigeria to the world cup for the second consecutive time when minors like Cape Verde are making it to the world cup. Let me remind you that yakubu aiyegbeni played for this nonsense super eagles. |

edogu:I don't get it when a player like Moses Simon comes out on a public forum to make this kind of comment. It's only an idiot that never played football, went for screening will take Simom comment hook and sinker. I have personally known players in my neighbourhood who we played together as youths, who latter played for Rangers and Enyimba. Is Ebenezer Ojo and Dare Ojo Igbos? For those who had experience club screening, we always know some players come with a note, while some don't and if you are competing with such players, you better be extra ordinarily good. Even in the national teams, it happens. Many dynamics could have worked against him but he finds it convenient to narrow it to tribalism. So Davidson Owumi, Rangers legend who has been working for the club in different capacities since retirement is Igbo abi? Common sense no common sha. |
