Very few people had satellite dish in those days where foreign stations were shown. If you had a satellite dish in your compound, you are considered a big man. Even coloured television was a rarety in those days and kids used to peep from long distance to watch the coloured television of their Landlords. How time flies. 1 Like

Those of us born in the 80's suffered alot,colour Tv was a luxury then.I remember begging my middle class neighbour to watch indian movie through the window. Going to school then was trekking many kilometers. Kids these days dey enjoy oh. Life is a lot easier. 8 Likes |

Nah people from the 80s,90s and early 2000s fit relate. Gen z no fit.. I remember standing while watching tom and Jerry cartoon and Nollywood movies like isakaba, igodo e.t.c from a neighbor window wayback. How time flies. 3 Likes |

ruggedtimi:Most capable engineers had that in their house. The bigger the antenna the more its use case. My uncle has that antenna and it's for connecting to vsat and outer net. Outer net was our new internet 1.0. How can someone be an engineer and be paying for water, electricity, entertainment?? Most people use it for watching free channels. 1 Like |

It's still in use today and much cheaper especially the big ones. One of my guy bought those big one for the price ascertaining a loaf of bread. Nigeria should invest in technology including space. There are too many opportunities and ways to earn money as long you do the books . Imagine if someone does a space company in nigeria, gradually by launching cube sats and offering nigerians a new internet, a more decentralized internet. This probably require a nigerian government blocking access to the internet which they can't. You don't need VC, do an ICO or launch a kickstarter. 1 Like |
