You see poor married people blaming God or devil for their problem. They are the cause of their poverty. I know a man that started working at the age of 25. He worked for 12 years before he married. He had only NCE. Instead of him to upgrade to degree for better opportunity. He remain in that position. That 12 years working as a single man. He didnt buy any single assest to his name. I dont blame him because he is from a polygamous family. Instead of him to marry someone much better than him. He still went to marry a 21 or 23 years old girl from the same polygamous with no job or handwork. or education .... |

The way people reason worries me. The op is myopic. How does polygamy cause poverty Obasanjo is a polygamist, he children are rich. Many prominent Nigerians are polygamist and their children are rich. A poor man can't be polygamist because he can't be able to pay bride price for a wife talkless of paying for 2nd or 3rd wife. Many monogamist has not even pay bride price and other marital rites of their wife. |

galantjoe:Your example jumps to an extreme outlier to back up your argument. So Obasanjo, a three-time former president, is the best example you could come up with for your regular polygamist? In a polygamous arrangement, the man usually has more kids than he can cater for, so the OP is right. Do not go into a marriage if you are still struggling, unless you are marrying above your class to improve yourself. Now, why would a struggling individual venture into polygamy? |

Mariangeles:Abi o.. live yours and let's see how far. It's so irritating to see a grown man blame his misfortunes on his parents. They lived their lives as they knew how to. You who claims to know better, design your life as best as you know na..? Failure man |

Nnamdipapa:If one's parents fed him, clothed him, put a roof over his head, cared for him when he fell sick, and sent him to school, yes, they did more than enough for him. Any other thing is extra. |
