Axis313:They were rescued. Eight of such kidnappers have been arrested and in the custody of DSS ready to be changed to court. Others were neutralized. In the days coming you will see the pictures. The victims have not even been handed over to Oyo State government. Most likely tomorrow. |

LibertyRep:Don't mind them. Experts said that this level of kidnapping are not planned and executed overnight. The primary reason was to get their high ranking leaders in DSS custody and prosecuted in court released. They came closer to the west knowing fully well that this will embarrass the president and amount pressure on him to release their leaders in exchange. The president didn't budge. |

Racoon:Under which administration? Tinubu or Buhari ? Pls always draw the line when taken about recycling terrorists into the Nigerian military. This administration has neutralized and killed more terrorists than any other previous administration, but in Naija for political reasons we dwell more on the negative narratives instead of the positive ones. Fighting terrorism is the job of everyone not only government, Government and citizenry work hand in hand to get it solved. |

TemplarLandry:If ransom was to be paid, it wont take so much time to effect the rescue, the terrorists did not even demand ransom, and even if they did their demands were more than ransom payment and these demands have not being met and will never be met under this administration. |

sameks08:Oga,The amount of months does not matter, it is the preservation of your life that matters, no matter the months, it is still a rescue. The government always know what to do but they fear collateral damage, which makes these releases late. A country like US or Russia wont mind collateral damage to effect an hostage rescue, but that cant be done here because of our mindset. The issue is the more you put pressure on criminals, the more they start to break. That is what happened here. The pressure was high. That is why to fight terrorism all citizens must understudy criminal psychology. When you understand how criminals think, you preempt them. |

silibaba:The terrorists wanted to exchange schoolchildren for their commanders. The government refused. It refused to turn innocent pupils into bargaining currency. One thing about President Tinubu is that he appears willing to make difficult decisions that many leaders would avoid. Negotiating from a position of weakness may secure a temporary reprieve, but it can also encourage future kidnappings by signalling that abducting innocent citizens is an effective bargaining tool. President Tinubu's audacity in matters is something that needs to be studied. The man is fearless when it comes to tough decisions. |

CharlesCNG:But they will still call them repented terrorist and later release them into the military. So any difference? |
| Re: Tinubu Orders Relief Support For Rescued Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers by victorv12(m): 6:34am On Jul 11 |
TemplarLandry:Were the kidnappers ever neutralized? When you look at everything that has happened, it feels like Nigerian politicians are playing games with people's lives instead of addressing serious security challenges. Schoolchildren were held captive for over 56 days, one of their aides was killed, and the victims were eventually released after a ransom was reportedly paid. Despite the deployment of the military, police, vigilantes, and other security personnel, no kidnappers were reportedly arrested or neutralized. To be honest with ourselves, many Nigerians feel trapped by the country's insecurity and the failures of those in leadership. There's nothing to celebrate until meaningful progress is made in protecting people's lives. |

silibaba:This is exactly the desperation I am talking about. Children and teachers have just been rescued after 56 days in captivity, and instead of expressing relief, obidients are already flapping around like rain-beaten chickens, looking for how to drag “repentant terrorists” into the matter. Why is it so hard for these sadistic and hateful obidients to say: thank God the pupils are alive? On the “repentant terrorists joining the military” claim, that story has been repeatedly denied and fact-checked. The Presidency said in 2020 that not one graduate of Operation Safe Corridor had been absorbed into the military. AFP also fact-checked a viral video claiming repentant Boko Haram fighters were recruited into the army and found it false; the video actually showed Civilian Joint Task Force members joining the army, not rehabilitated terrorists. Operation Safe Corridor itself was established in 2016 under the previous administration to receive voluntary defectors from Boko Haram factions. It has always been controversial because many Nigerians fear reintegration without adequate justice for victims. That concern is legitimate. But there is a difference between legitimate concern and weaponised obidient deflection. In this Oyo rescue, the Presidency said eight kidnappers were arrested, others were neutralised, and there was **no quid pro quo**. Channels reported that one terrorist kingpin whose release was demanded by the kidnappers is being prosecuted. In other words, government did not swap schoolchildren for terrorist commanders. So what exactly are obidients angry about? The operation was intelligence-led, involving security agencies over weeks, until the captors were tracked, cornered, some arrested, some neutralised, and the victims brought out alive. Reuters and AP both reported the rescue of the abducted Oyo pupils and teachers by Nigerian security forces. The sad truth is that some opposition voices especially Peter Obi, had already turned the children’s captivity into campaign fuel. Now that the children are alive, their propaganda engine has lost petrol. That is why they are deflecting. Normal people celebrate rescued children. Only disaster merchants start looking for a new grievance before the parents finish thanking God. |

CharlesCNG:You people are the reason why our leaders would never be responsible. Yes it is great the people are rescued but we deserve to know the specifics and we deserve to see the captured bandits. Anything other than that raises suspicion and enforces the belief that back channel ransom payment was made. Leave propaganda and let us face facts, love of APC govt and love for the country are two different things if you love the country you should speak the truth to power and demand explanations from the leaders elected to serve you. Anyone asking these questions or trying to probe for information doesn't make him a hateful person. |

I agree with you. The analysis of what went right or wrong will definitely follow. Those in charge needs to answer probing questions. Where are the neutralized kidnappers and those arrested. Nigeria and Nigerians would like to see them even though I'm a Batified APC. Irony1: |

Racoon:When one Oyo lawmaker said the kidnappers wanted one billion naira ransom, the kidnappers made a video telling Nigerians that the only thing they were asking for was for FG to release their leaders, that they need not any ransom. The video is online. I was just listening to one broadcaster called Kola Olootu saying that Igboho said they were around Cotonou where they traced the kidnappers to. He said Igboho sent a lot of videos to him about the rescue but he was told to keep them confidential. Igboho team facilitated the rescue with the collaboration of security agencies. |
