Previous Thread https://www.nairaland.com/8706989/dropped-rangers-international-because-wasnt Rangers football club of Enugu has come a long way. A household name since the 70s that has won the most trophies in the Nigerian local league. Many people don't know, but Rangers International is the only club in her league that has NEVER been relegated in the history of the Nigerian Professional league. Infact, since her inception in 1970, the club has never been relegated!!! The standards are that high. This is the club that has shown over time to be the quintessential example of a detribalised organisation. Rangers FC has produced superstars, not just for Nigeria but for Africa. What with big household names like Taribo West, Davidson Owunmi, Adokie Amasieghmeka and Jay Jay Okocha, Nana Bonsu, Socrates Da Silva, etc. None of these aforementioned players were originally from Enugu state. Overtime, the great RANGERS INTERNATIONAL has gone on to set the records as the only club in the history of the Nigerian Professional league that has been managed many times by coaches from outside the zone where the club is located. Most probably the club in the top tier to have been administered mostly by non indigenes, with no one from Enugu state raising a dust. Rangers has willfully given opportunities to all Nigerians and non Nigerians based on their professional capabilities and not based on their ethnicities. Facts don't lie.. Players and tactician have come from the East, the West, the North and the South of the country. From Ghana, from Brazil et al.. As we speak, a player from far away Senegal is on their roaster! Temitope Olusesi captained Rangers in recent years. Davidson Owunmi is the current chairman of the Former Ragers Players Organisation, he was a former player of Rangers and was the former chairman of the club. Davidson is not igbo! The current physiotherapist is a not from the region, he is from the South West. The former coach who handed over to the present coach is not from the eastern zone. He is from the middle belt, the same area as one loquacious Mosses Simon. We should all endeavour to protect the image of the club because of what the club stands for; a club from the East that has employed, trained and helped numerous humans from far and wide to thrive and to be better in their careers. It is painful for some to try tarnishing the awesome image the club has worked assiduously to build over the decades.. Not every player that tried to play for Rangers succeeded. Those who could not make the "cut off marks" should not conveniently attribute their failures to tribalism simply because they succeeded later in life. . You were not good enough at that point. It is that simple! Below: Coaches that have managed Rangers past present, club squad present, etc..

Rangers has willfully given opportunities to all Nigerians and non Nigerians based on their professional capabilities and not based on their ethnicities. Facts don't lie..This is very and highly commendable from Rangers. We were so surprised to read all that has been peddled against this great team since last week. Facts don't lie. |

It's a shame that someone like Moses Simon can say that.he may not be good at that particular time.clubsides in southeast are all for the best players from Spartans which late became Iwuanyanwu Nationale to Rangers to Enyimba FC.that he succeeded later in life does not mean he was good at that time.its a shame on him. |

I have followed Rangers since 1984 when they won the league under a very popular Polish coach of that era. Moses Simon's comments will come back to haunt him. After all, BBL Hawks of Makurdi that later became Lobi Stars, a team from Simon's home state, featured almost exclusively Tivs at a point. He was just talking rubbish. |

From his (Moses Simon) afore statement as compared to facts and figures published by the club, we can clearly see who is the tribalised party. |

In 2002, I watched a political program on the NTA Enugu which featured the late Chief Emma Nkwocha a former commissioner in Anambra state and one time chairman of Rangers Management Corporation. In the interview, he expressed his displeasure over the composition of the club which had more non Igbo players. I condemned his tribalistic stance in that interview. From the late Nkwocha’s own admission, Rangers international football club of Enugu has a incontrovertible history of inclusiveness. For that Simon to utter that nonsense is unfortunate to say the least. |

Shameless tribalists who have carried their irresponsible ways to trouble Enugu Rangers. Shame on them all. Whoever is Moses Simon should be ashamed of himself and carry his recklessness away from decent sportspeople in Nigeria. Rangers before, now and forever! |

There should be no need responding to an allegation that has no substance. The name of the alleged person who rejected him on ethnic grounds is key to the credibility of the allegation. You know you were rejected because you were Igbo, you know the person who rejected you was Igbo but somehow forgot his name- in less than ten years. He is a f*** |

![]() I still believe Mose Simon |
| Re: Rangers FC Of Enugu: Separating The Facts From The Lies by Blunt99: 7:01pm On Jul 11 |
This doesn't prove that he lied. His case can be unique, especially if there was a different management at his time, also judging heavy tribal division, which was more of recent occurrence. Some will want to capitalize on that to osctracized other region. We are currently in a tribal cold war in the country . |
| Re: Rangers FC Of Enugu: Separating The Facts From The Lies by Pillar12: 7:02pm On Jul 11 |
Moses Simon said what he said, and we can’t pretend to know better than him. The truth is, he claims he was let go by Enugu Rangers and not given a fair chance because he’s not Igbo. A couple of years ago, Burna Boy made a similar point about Igbos preferring their own over outsiders. These aren’t random people saying this.... they’re public figures with firsthand experience. Many believe Igbos are very tribalistic but tend to downplay it, especially because non-Igbos rarely go to the Southeast. The perception is that Igbos are not very accommodating and are highly tribalistic. |
