Well, as they always say there are two sides of the story. I guess it was a misperception on the side of Moses Simon at the time of this incident.

owobokiri, thank you for this factual and evidence-laden publication.

I know you as a moniker who condemns evil and uphold justice and decentralization.

Keep it up.

Enugu Rangers is a detribalized and focus-oriented football club. We extol inclusiveness and brotherhood in our mission and vision for the club.

Anybody perpetuating lies and calumny against our own club will be shamed and disgraced.

God bless Enugu Rangers.
God bless the Cathedral.

I have followed Rangers since 1984 when they won the league under a very popular Polish coach of that era.

Moses Simon's comments will come back to haunt him. After all, BBL Hawks of Makurdi that later became Lobi Stars, a team from Simon's home state, featured almost exclusively Tivs at a point.

He was just talking rubbish.
The Polish coach was Josef Kowalik. He was the coach that signed and brought JJ Okocha to Rangers.

Just the way Obi carry religion enter our politics and called the election a religious war.
Let me complete the sentence“…..a religious war being waged against Christians using a Muslim-Muslim ticket”.

It’s evident there was ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria especially in the middle belt, and the Mu-Mu ticket has worsened the security situation in Nigeria as highlighted by U.S. intelligence

Facts don't lie.
Nothing commendable

It didn't address players being dropped for coming from other region

The argument isnt about coaches but upcoming players

What side of the story

Are coaches not different from upcoming players

This is a damage control

This is a lie we tell ourselves until it happens to us

Club do come out and hype their own, rangers have never for once talked about this guy. Rangers are the greater liers here.
Re: Rangers FC Of Enugu: Separating The Facts From The Lies by firearcher: 7:21pm On Jul 11
Hmm. Why not just come out and address the specific allegation directly. That yes, Moses tried out for the club but was not signed due to.....and that was Moses said is untrue.

That's a proper response.

Igbos are the best Nigerians let just accept that fact we are the ones uniting this nation as one

Re: Rangers FC Of Enugu: Separating The Facts From The Lies by Pacesetter123(m): 7:29pm On Jul 11
Good one there from Rangers Int'l.
Moses Simon goff very big time by that careless statement.
Many of my tribe men have played for clubs in Iboland expecially in that Rangers and Enyimba and some of them gone from there to the national team. They were not discriminated at.
A professional football player like Moses should know that there's what we called 'Trial'in recruitment phase of a player.
It is not every player that undergo trial in a particular club that will succeed.
A lot of our Nigerian guys are going for trial in Europe on daily basis but some do return to Nigeria after months of unsuccessful trials.
Not bcuz of their race but because they can't really convince the coach or the management of the club in that material time.
They may one day go to another club and succeed there. It does mean they should talk evil about the previous clubs that rejected them.
Eto once said that he was to play for Real Madrid, but the then coach refused to sign him maybe he wasn't fit into the coach game plan as at then.He later went to a smaller club,I think Real Betis or so and grow from there to become one of the world lethal strikers in Barcelona. In that interview,he didn't attribute the Madrid refusal to sign him to racism.
So Moses Simon should go and sit down with his yeyeyish talk, the club of that standard cannot openly tell him "We don't need you because you are not Igbo".
Who does that?
Re: Rangers FC Of Enugu: Separating The Facts From The Lies by AMI3(m): 7:41pm On Jul 11
Blunt99:
This doesn't prove that he lied.

His case can be unique, especially if there was a different management at his time, also judging heavy tribal division, which was more of recent occurrence.

Some will want to capitalize on that to osctracized other region.

We are currently in a tribal cold war in the country .
Then he supposed to have mentioned the Igbo person that said that
Re: Rangers FC Of Enugu: Separating The Facts From The Lies by erad(m): 7:45pm On Jul 11
This is a stupid rebuttal if we're being honest.

It's like a white man saying/doing something racist and he's called out for it but his defense is that he has black friends. Does that mean you were not racist at that point in time?

I'm yoruba and went to a university in the south west. A particular dude in my set was intentionally given reduced marks just so the best graduating student would be a yoruba person. Mind you, this is a department that has had past BGS from different other tribes asides yoruba. But does that invalidate what happened to my course mate?

Tribalism exists. Of course, rangers have the ability to twist the narrative anyhow they want, but it doesn't invalidate what the young man noticed and felt. It might not even be something that was intentional.

It would have made more sense if they promised to conduct an investigation into it rather than trying to be all defensive.

Moses Simon said what he said, and we can’t pretend to know better than him.
The truth is, he claims he was let go by Enugu Rangers and not given a fair chance because he’s not Igbo.

A couple of years ago, Burna Boy made a similar point about Igbos preferring their own over outsiders.
These aren’t random people saying this.... they’re public figures with firsthand experience.

Many believe Igbos are very tribalistic but tend to downplay it, especially because non-Igbos rarely go to the Southeast.
The perception is that Igbos are not very accommodating and are highly tribalistic.
The perception you described is built on ignorance and inferiority complex.

Common sense will look at facts, while nonsense will follow beer parlour gossip.

My days in Esut in the early 2000s,I vividly remember the two popular names on radio (Cosmo FM anchored by Ralph Anazodo) then, coach Lawrence Akpokona and team manager Davidson owumi.we do wait for their correspondent at the glass house in Abuja,in the person of Sports journalist Andrew Abba to give details of matches in different venues, before going to lectures every Monday.
So na lie Simon dey lie give us?

It's obvious moses wasn't good enough at that time he was at enugu rangers he couldn't meet up with their high standards and preferred to easily blame his failure on tribalism. Moses has the same mindset with corrupt nigerian politicians who use tribal and religious sentiments to have their way in politics.

Within a year of being rejected by Rangers allegedly because of tribalism, he got signed to a club in the Netherlands.

Quite obvious that u are the one that has an ethnicity bias problem huh.

If it was sunshine stars of Akure that Simon Moses had mentioned, you would have been gleefully in pleasure praising him.
