All the military head of states refused to do it, since democratically elected president dispensation, they all refused to do despite pleading and campaigning that it would enhance bigger vessels in coming to Calabar and thereby lessen traffic in Lagos and Rivers ports....This is great..but I wouldn't thank anybody because it's the right thing to do if you are willing as a President to turn the economy of your country around......it's the duty of a right thinking leadership to do....I need and demand more of development.......it's our money, use it right to give us a good standard of living... Apart from the hardship in Nigeria, Tinubu has done very well for we the good people of cross river state I most confess. From the coastal road to the Calabar-Abuja highway to bakassi seaport approval to this wonderful economy changing project, which is the dredging of the Calabar seaport. Thank you Mr president. And it will surprise you that, tinubu failed in cross river state in 2023 general election.

People also don't consider that the number of ports need to more or less reflect the size of the economy.

Everybody wants a port in his backyard.

But ports are businesses, not charities.

If there's not enough goods going through them, they will be loss making, and become moribund as investment will divert to profitable ports.

There is Calabar. There is Onne. And Warri. Akwa Ibom is planning to build one. Ondo wants a port too.

Mr Dangote is planning to build the largest port in Nigeria in Ogun.

Haba, where are the goods (import & export) to fill these ports and make them all profitable.

If there is Apapa, Tin Can, Lekki, and the proposed Dangote port, I don't see an immediate need for another port in nearby Ondo.

now why should one state have so many port why others don't, lets just use oil drilling exploration, do we have only one state that oil got drilled,as many we have is it not benefitting Nigeria as it stand...having many port will decongest all lagos port atleast, we talking of gridlock in lagos and is most caused by all this container trailers, atleast let other state benefit from this not just only lagos should have tax from ports and employment as well

if all the ports in SS are working Lagos will be decongested over night and the IGR will drop by 80% there will be no need of coming to apapa to clear your goods then truck them down to east with millions of naira. Till Today, no media knows the system of the Refineries but it was here they paraded the news that Rivers Refinery is working and that of Kaduna ....lols 😂😂😂😂

Why didn't Tinibu's Government start the dredging in his second year in office
Atleast by now we should have seen a good outcome...
