Oseni Rufai Reacts To Oluremi Tinubu's Advice, Shares Video Of Long Govt Convoy by Glimpsetv(op): 5:13pm On Jul 12

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKSfOfKhWaU?si=3mAQBEVRtB8AIOzh

A fresh debate has erupted after Arise TV anchor Oseni Rufai reacted to comments made by Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who urged Nigerian musicians to focus more on charity than luxury cars.

Speaking during the launch of the National Community Food Bank in Kogi State, the First Lady encouraged top entertainers, including Burna Boy, Davido, and Asake, to establish charitable foundations and support struggling Nigerians. While acknowledging that owning luxury vehicles is not wrong, she stressed that successful individuals should also give back to society.

In response, Oseni Rufai shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing a remarkably long convoy of government vehicles. He captioned the post:
"The president's wife says musicians should buy less Ferrari and co and spend more for charity. Can govt officials also reduce their convoy?"

The video has sparked widespread discussion online. As the convoy passes, voices in the background can be heard expressing surprise at its length, questioning why such a large motorcade is necessary, while one person jokingly prays for similar success one day.

In this video, we examine the First Lady's remarks, Oseni Rufai's response, the convoy footage that has generated intense reactions, and the broader conversation about public spending, accountability, and shared sacrifice during Nigeria's economic challenges.

Watch the video and let's know what you think? Should government officials reduce the size of their convoys before asking celebrities and other Nigerians to spend less on luxury? Share your thoughts in the comments.

It is an old Parkinson observation that a failed government, in order to maintain itself, will elevate non-productivity to the point where productivity is secondary and existence is primary.

Truth be told this government has performed poorly, the advice to Bruna, Davido and Co is good, but it has to come from rational mind.

Government is not even about money. What will money do to a farmer whom terrorist have taken over his farm?

What will money do for a man who has miscarriage of justice because the judge was bribed

Do you know that a government that's performing in transparency and honesty, that understand the pain of an average Nigerian by cutting cost of running government rather than running a traditional yoruba owanbe government... Nigerians in diaspora wouldn't mind to even donate as low as 50k naira each to cushion relief of fellow Nigerians living in Nigeria and improve welfare of Nigerians .... People key into transparent ventures and ready to be good citizens if tulumbu can confess his crimes and how he helped brought Nigeria to her knees through Apc .... I believe Nigerians are benevolent enough to forgive him and his family and he can build a new Nigeria where criminals irrespective of past relationships are put inside prison.... Sign a law that says

If you steal public funds from henceforth irrespective of who you're, whether elected or appointed, you will be executed on national tv

Then you will see Nigeria become the new sort out bride and pride of Africa...

Guess what, one region will not like this arrangement.... You see why a lot of Nigerians are against tulumbu Apc government and their supporters

I swear if Tinubu was governing Nigeria with all sincerity, love and unity at heart by carrying every region and tribe along sincerely in his government, making humane but effective policies with the sole aim of growing the entire Nigeria and improving thr lives of all Nigerians and their businesses irrespective of tribe, I would have been glad to even be the first to organize fellow Igbos in my little capacity to rally financial support to support the government through individual contributions.

We Igbos do this a lot. We do it a lot, its part of us, it is what helped Igbo land and communities to succeed and overcame marginalization and sidelining by the Nigerian federal government since the end of the Civil War.

It has helped Igbos a lot and we would have been glad to do same to support Tinubu's government if he was leading Nigeria with love, honesty, integrity, empathy.

I think it is fair to say the man has done what was expected of him by his major stakeholders. While those interest in general does not reflect or in anyway have a wild effects on majority of Nigerians, the simple and yet irrevocable aspect of his government is that he has opened a lot of doors to make enough money if you just know where to look.

In all ways, Nigerians and the government has never had a relationship. They do what they think it's best, and the citizens complain and the underlining understanding of their excuse is you can never please everyone.

Majority has always complained, while the complain may stem from different context, the reality is the percentage of people who benefit from government and those who don't will always be the same. It is just how the human race are presently. Sure there may be more of us today, but the percentage of winners and those on the otherside have always been the same.

For any serious government to solve Nigeria problem, it will not only take a radical move but also a bold one at that. Everyone one isn't going to be a billionaire, and in Nigeria where influence through wealth is the most potent language, almost everyone feels they are being left behind while they see some others eat from the fruit of the nation.

As much as a lot of things are not working in this country, and the complain is over the top, every progressive mind knows problems equals opportunity. This opportunities, a lot of Nigerians are not seeing it. Making use of it becomes a matter of not knowing what to do.

An average Nigerian who works in bank, doesn't even know how to structure a deal let alone have the essence of it to raise capital to finance the deal. Everything is about government like we are living in some socialist state.

While I do not say we are in anyway close to margin of what we should be getting, it will be more productive also to start from somewhere. What Nigeria generates can not sustain Nigeria and that's even when you haven't factor corruption into the picture.

It is left for citizens to see where the cracks in the systems are, take advantage of it. Pooling resources, moving to solve problems minimals ones, creating a new avenue for resources instead of just waiting for the government to handle everything.

I wish there's a possible ways Nigerians have an avenue of people who will come together to tackle one aspect of the problem. In reality when you propose such, the attitude towards it is always the same, what is the government job. And with that attitude, a government who knows his tenure can only run for a limited time of 8 years will do everything to make sure he and not the country will continue to benefit from the time he is able to occupy that space.

The problem with Nigeria is not lack of human resources, it is purely lack of orientation.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a seasoned accountant and political strategist who rose from the corporate world to the highest office in Nigeria. Born in 1952, he earned his accounting degree from Chicago State University and worked for major global firms like Deloitte before returning to Nigeria as the treasurer of Mobil Oil. His political career took off in the early 1990s when he was elected to the Nigerian Senate, though military rule soon forced him into exile as a pro-democracy activist. Upon his return, he served two influential terms as Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, a period during which he rebuilt the city's crumbling infrastructure and radically overhauled its tax system to generate independent revenue. Known as a master political kingmaker for building the coalition that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC), he capped his decades-long political journey by winning the election to become the 16th President of Nigeria in 2023.

She went on to serve three consecutive terms in the Senate over twelve years, sponsoring numerous bills focused on social welfare, youth development, and gender equality. It is only a fool like Useni that will believe that every vehicle in that entourage belongs to the first Lady. This are individual vehicles from various govt agencies atenditing the events as part of her entourage. This vehicle serves multiple other purposes.

There is nothing wrong in her encouraging the wealthy amongst us to be charitable.

This one is deceiving himself. Igbos support wetin?

During COVID, how many of your Igbo states did you contribute to?

We were all here when Anambra state government was publicly begging for donations, struggling to achieve even 1 Billion.

Isolation centres that others donated freely, e reach your turn, 5 states were fighting over the one NCDC built in Ebonyi.

Dangote alone in Kano donated more than the total donations of all SE states. Your kobokobo donations were the least.

It is those who don't know you that you would deceive.

I think to some extent the person was right.
Governance isn't about buying people conscious and ruling against them by force.
Maybe the person was reluctant to let you know that the man is the worst president to rule this country.

Go and ask average Nigerians what it means to survive or live in this present Nigeria.
